Whilst we have great respect for the history of the dive watch, Aera was never founded to recreate the past.

From the beginning, our aim has been to build modern tool watches shaped by the same principles that defined the originals — clarity, functionality and reliability in real-world use.

In the 1950s, figures like Jacques Cousteau helped redefine what a diving watch could be. Through his film The Silent World, he showed that diving was both as an aspirational adventure and a serious, scientific pursuit.

The watches worn during that era were purposeful instruments — valued not for status, but for absolute legibility, robust engineering and uncompromising functionality. Features like uni-directional bezels, high-contrast dials and mechanical reliability weren’t design choices. They were essential features for real-world use.

That spirit continues to inform everything we create today. Discipline in form, clarity in function, and purpose in every detail and it’s this discipline that continues to guide the evolution of our D-1 series.

We’re rewarded to support a driver whose focus, discipline, and pursuit of performance reflect the same standards we bring to every instrument we build.

The M-1 is the refined counterpart to our foundational P-1. While both share a common design language, the M-1 introduces a 4mm reduction in diameter – subtly rebalancing its proportions to deliver a more considered, intimate wearing experience without compromising utility.

In developing the range, we focused relentlessly on case architecture. Each contour has been precisely engineered to follow the natural form of the wrist, resulting in a silhouette that feels almost imperceptible in wear. The outcome is a watch designed to disappear – offering seamless comfort, around the clock.
