Last night, we went to bed at 11:30 after Presley’s final feed, as we usually do, only to be jolted awake at 2am by Rocky screaming for me. I spent the rest of the night in the nursery with her curled into my chest. At 4:30am, you called because our 14-year-old pup had an accident all over the bedroom floor. By 7:30am, Rocky and I walked into the kitchen to discover our 14-year-old Kitty had apparently decided to contribute to the chaos as well.
And somewhere inside the exhaustion, the cleanup, the interrupted sleep, the babies, and the elderly animals all needing us at once, the same 11-year feeling remains: there is no one on earth I would rather do this with. Somehow even the mess feels sacred with you beside me. Happy anniversary, my love.
