This weekend, we’re watching SELMA.

Just 60 years ago, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed to protect the right to vote, putting an end to barriers like the absurd literacy tests shown in this scene. But access to the ballot has never been a settled issue. And the lessons and strategies used by leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr., John Lewis, Amelia Boynton and Hosea Williams resonate as much today as they did decades ago.

#EARTHWEEK Our team visited @black.thumb.farm for the screening of IN OUR MOTHERS' GARDENS last month– one of the many events they put together for the community in Panorama city, CA, where they equip youth with hands-on training in farming and gardening, build their leadership skills, and provide them with access to healthy, quality produce and a safe, green space.
