Six months before the shoot, @john.merritt.studio began constructing a miniature LA: the Eastern Columbia Building, the Orpheum rooftop sign (illuminated by thousands of incandescent bulbs), the Hollywood sign and hills, a tractor-trailer Cassie hoists overhead, and a city aftermath. Everything was built in forced perspective, scaling from 1/24th in the foreground to 1/48th at the horizon, with select street-level shots at 1/12th.
Set Designer @claudiashanmugam drafted scale schematics for every shot, mapping camera position and lens choices to match storyboards. Concept artist @kristianllana illustrated key frames in #blender3d, incorporating the dusk lighting I developed with DP @marcellrev.
Cassie's apartment was constructed as a 1/2-scale miniature; the NY Street backlot @wbsburbank was dressed for crowd reactions; a custom 135-foot twilight translight from @jcbackings, designed by @miguelrosero, spanned one whole wall of the stage. Cassie's apartment was constructed as a 1/2-scale miniature; the NY Street backlot @wbsburbank was dressed for crowd reactions; a custom 135-foot twilight translight from @jcbackings, designed by @miguelrosero, spanned one whole wall of the stage. Art Directors @atoddholland and @k_signs managed the mayhem.
For the moment Cassie leans into an office and crashes through the glass, also on stage. @theofficialknbefxgroup built her chest at full scale.

But flowers were the obsession. The color palette was sampled from the pinks of a shrimp cocktail. And then we ordered every pink flower in the Western Hemisphere... 25,092 stems & 7,475 roses!
