A small sampling of camera operating in 2024. The past year has been filled with education, hard work, collaboration, and even a few paid gigs. I’m grateful for the Steadicam community for the encouragement and for pushing me to practice and grow. I did some fantastic workshops with my instructor @steadicamlessons this year: hardmount, technocrane and geared head along with some Steadicam lessons. I had the amazing opportunity to do a mentorship with @peter.rosenfeld who I bought my @gpi_pro rig from through the @societyofcameraoperators. Got in some wheels practice at the SOC office and was so fortunate to take the @societyofcameraoperators crane workshop at @cinemoves. I got to operate the joystick on an arm car 🤯I’m so grateful for the opportunity to learn from amazing camera operators and for the creative collaboration with filmmakers this year. Thank you thank you thank you! Looking forward to 2025 ✨

Putting those Etch-A-Sketch skills to use at the Technocrane Workshop with @steadicamlessons at @elitecamerasupport. Definintely a different experience from practicing on the geared head. Audie was operating the crane arm up and down/left and right and Randy was operating the pickle, extending and retracking the arm while I was on the pan and tilt. It was really fun to get to do the dance with them and the actors @priscillamarieserrano and @katethecannon . I can’t wait to do it again!

Finally posting some footage and behind the scenes from the Hard Mount Workshop I took with @steadicamlessons. I experienced the kind of joy I assume was reserved for kids who won trips to space camp on Nickelodeon game shows in the 90s. I’m still dreaming about this paella! On my last full day in Barcelona @pburninator and I took a cooking class with @paella.barcelona
We were the only ones who signed up for that day, so we ended up with a private class! It was such an amazing experience that started with shopping for ingredients at the famous La Boqueria. Led by our incredible chef/teacher/guide, Maria. She promptly put a glass of cava in our hands while she gave us the history of the market and took us to each of the stalls to buy the ingredients for the meal we were making: pan con tomate, sangria, and seafood paella. Maria was a wonderful and patient teacher. Thank you @paella.barcelona for the unforgettable experience and meal!

I’m still dreaming about this paella! On my last full day in Barcelona @pburninator and I took a cooking class with @paella.barcelona
We were the only ones who signed up for that day, so we ended up with a private class! It was such an amazing experience that started with shopping for ingredients at the famous La Boqueria. Led by our incredible chef/teacher/guide, Maria. She promptly put a glass of cava in our hands while she gave us the history of the market and took us to each of the stalls to buy the ingredients for the meal we were making: pan con tomate, sangria, and seafood paella. A WORK IN PROGRESS - This feels like the overall theme for this year. As much as I’d like to put a bow on things and call them done, I’m finding gratitude and joy in the journey. 4 has always been my lucky number, so I’m hoping double 4’s hold some special magic. Doing some reflecting today and am so grateful for all my family and friends near and far. It’s been a year dealing with damage from the winds from the wildfires and the subsequent water damage because I didn’t realize I was missing part of the roof (whoopsies). I haven’t had a bedroom since the end of January, but I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you to my family and friends who have been there to listen, cheer me on, give me a place to shower, take me on adventures, hang out and laugh with me. It’s the best gift I could ask for.
