It was such an honor to be able to setup and shoot tintypes at the @billy_reid Shindig two weeks ago back down in my hometown of Florence, Alabama. Had a great time and got to meet lots of people from across the world who came out. Looking forward to catching up again with all of you in the future.

Finished the weekend off with my favorite shot of the trip of Billy Reid himself. Taken on an 8x10 sheet of black glass.

Wrapping up the week with this full-band tintype of The Marcus King Band, made a few months back in the backyard. I shared a solo portrait of @realmarcusking earlier this week, but this one felt like the right way to close things out for the week.

It was a four-second exposure, so everyone had to stay perfectly still. Even Marcus’ dog Duck managed to hold still enough to feel like he belonged in 1865, with just the slightest hint of motion.

Jack Ryan, the band’s drummer, noticed an axe leaning against the big stump and picked it up like it had been waiting for him. The whole scene just came together naturally.

Loved capturing this little one and her family recently. When they arrived she told me what they had for lunch - it was “bock bock.” I wasn’t sure what that was, and it turned out to be chicken! Adorable! We now use the term “bock bock” around the house for chicken. 😍

I ended up picking up a Darlot loupe, because I needed a loupe. But…if you need a lens Voitlander, Carl Zeiss, Hermagis, Cooke, Dallmeyer, etc., you should stop by. Plus, it’s just a cool little shop. Five stars. Highly recommended.
