From the sands of Baker Beach in 1986 🌊🔥 to the wide-open desert of Black Rock City in 1990 🌵✨ … and now here we are, 39 years later. What started as an 8-foot wooden figure on a San Francisco beach has become a city of 70,000 dreamers, creators, and adventurers.

It’s wild to think that the move from Baker Beach to Black Rock Desert happened 35 years ago, and it changed everything. The dust, the art, the fire, the community… it all grew from that leap.

This morning I stumbled across a little slice of Paris in the middle of the desert 🌵✨ a French café tucked away in deep playa. Café de Sables Rouge was serving up fresh French press coffee, flaky croissants, and filling the air with the voice of Edith Piaf 🎶. It felt like stepping into another world! Such a magical treat to find out here in Black Rock City. 🥐☕️❤️

Burners are a wild bunch. 😂 Even on a perfectly clear, sunny day out here, the playa surprises us, dust devils spinning into double vortexes like they’ve got a mind of their own. 🌪️🌪️

And what do we do? Stand back? Nope. We chase them. 🏃‍♀️🏜️ Watching everyone run after swirling walls of dust never stops being hilarious… only at Burning Man would this be considered entertainment.

This piece stopped me in my tracks. A mirrored portal that brings the sky to the earth and the earth to the sky, it’s a space where you’re reminded that balance is possible, even in the middle of chaos and dust.

Step inside and you’re surrounded by shimmering lights, reflections, and sound. 🌌 It feels like you’re not leaving the ground or flying away, but existing in harmony with everything all at once.

It’s an allegory for connection. Beneath present and future, between ideas and action, between what’s within us and what we manifest outside of us. Change begins within, and this art lets you feel that truth.
