First flight! ✈️

The first 777-9 airplane for @lufthansa flew ahead of certification testing. The airline is one of the 777X launch customers.

Boeing pilots Capt. Ted Grady and Capt. Jake Miller flew a three-hour, 27-minute profile over Washington and Oregon, completing a standard flight designed to test the airplane’s systems and structures.

Our first 777-9 has taken flight for the first time, marking a major milestone for the 777X program. 🛫

Unlike earlier test aircraft, this airplane features Lufthansa’s fully outfitted passenger cabin, including premium and economy seats, in-flight entertainment systems and customer-ready cabin features. The first flight lasted 3 hours and 27 minutes over Washington and Oregon, testing the airplane’s systems and structures before the next phase of cabin and connectivity testing for the certification.

Boeing will paint the airplane in full Lufthansa livery before delivery, with the first 777-9 delivery planned for 2027.

A big step forward for us, Boeing and the future of long-haul flying. ✈️

MAX GOLAZO!

This week, we celebrated with @CopaAirlines, unveiling their special livery 737 MAX airplane. ✈️⚽

Painted in the red “marea roja” and adorned with the gold harpy eagle on its crest, this aircraft honors both the Panama Men’s National Team who qualified for their second-ever World Cup in November 2025, and former Seattle Sounders’ ace Román Torres, who is famous in Panama for scoring the goal that qualified Panama for its first-ever trip in 2018.

Congratulations and good luck to all the athletes who will be competing this summer!

Before helping to bring Star Wars to life, Ralph McQuarrie began his career as an artist and design illustrator at Boeing in the 1950s and 1960s, sketching assembly diagrams for the 747 and creating project illustrations. Fascinated with flight and outer space exploration, McQuarrie was later commissioned by filmmaker George Lucas as a concept artist of the original trilogy, designing iconic scenes, settings, and characters like Darth Vader, R2‑D2 and C‑3PO.

Now on a barge, the rocket stage will journey to @NASAKennedy for vertical integration with the engine section. This is the first time we’ve shipped the stage without its engine section — a change aimed at accelerating production for future @NASAArtemis missions.
