In my speech, I talked about how the national literacy trust has declared reading to be at a crisis point, with only 35% of young people reading for pleasure. I spoke of the invisible privilege that has created for those that do read, such as improved cognitive function, memory, reduced stress, and how stories help us transfer wisdom, process emotion, and foster empathy.

This was my first full week at the Bath Christmas market and I miss my cosy chalet already 🥺 I loved bringing the world of Britishbookart to life! (Plus I had a heater and blankets this year so I wasn’t freezing to death 😂)

It was a happy, busy week of selling, pre-opening post office trips, diligent evenings ordering more stock & packaging Etsy orders, and many quick bites of food between customers (it took me over three hours each day to eat half a sandwich 😂)

I’m also thrilled to report that my bookmarks were very well received again which was so rewarding to see 💛🥲
