Final touches make all the difference 👌

Fresh foam, clean lines, and that last pull of fabric to bring it all together. This bench went from worn out to ready for another lifetime.

Nothing better than calling it DONE.

Pro tip that I should have done from the beginning….don’t buy the cheap stuff. Just get the tools that are made for the job and your life will be so much easier…added bonus will save you so much time in the long haul.
I guess the upside is I just acquired a $35 fabric weight 📈

Part 2 - Warm and fresh new wooden bench legs.

This part is the most satisfying to me but also takes the longest. I’m no professional and this is only my second time at it but very happy with the results.

Sanded it down to remove the paint and small dents, hit it with a rich walnut stain, and let the grain do the talking. Nothing beats that moment when old wood comes back to shine again.

Bringing this one back the right way. Replacing worn out foam, refinishing the wooden legs, and reupholstering with fresh fabric for a clean midcentury modern finish. All the way from tear down, to the final staple.

Adding the final touches

Finally getting to see the vision take shape is very satisfying once everything started coming together with this bench.
Needless to say, I’m very happy with how this turned out.

This old bench ran its course and no longer felt or looked as good as it once did. Ripped fabric, missing button, deflated foam, and a broken support. After a lot of hours and getting poked a few too many times from rogue staples, I finally got this thing stripped down and patched back up to look as good as new. Fresh wood conditioner, walnut stain, and a polyurethane finishing coat. Love how some of the wood textures came through that were previously hidden from a textured paint.
No one tells you how much extra work it is to do a job and film the whole thing too. Needless to say, I’m pretty stoked how this turned out and happy to use Juki Lu on a big project.
