Creating livelihood opportunities and improving lives
We at Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF) are creating opportunites for marginalised communities by enhancing their skills, boosting their income, and helping them realize their dreams. Shirin and Doli, both facing unemployment, found new opportunities through skill training in September. They received specialized training in upcycling leftover leather and successfully secured jobs at Dekko Legacy. This not only enabled them to support their families but also to advance toward greater equality. This allowed them to contribute to their families and work towards greater equality.

Empowering Out-of-Work Women garment workers through Sustainable Skills Training and Job Placement in New Industries
We at Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF) are committed to enhancing women's roles across various sectors, including traditional and emerging fields. In Sept, our current initiative focused on providing comprehensive skills training in battery recycling and manufacturing in collaboration with Rimso Battery, an SME that has effectively integrated circularity training into its operations. Additionally, we at CAIF have partnered with two innovative leather factories specializing in repurposing leftover leather. Despite facing challenges, these SMEs have enthusiastically embraced the training program, creating sustainable job opportunities that prioritize environmental integrity and dignity. We are also proud to report a 29% job placement rate in the leather sector, highlighting our impact on women's entrepreneurship and employment in sustainable industries.

We at Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF) are thrilled to share a Sept update on our work, having successfully conducted eight training batches focused on circular micro-entrepreneurship, benefiting 223 women from Gazipur, Savar, and Narayangonj. This initiative has empowered participants engaged in sectors like mushroom cultivation, livestock, and poultry farming. Key achievements include fostering a commitment to sustainable practices, such as transitioning to energy-efficient LED lights and initiating small-scale compost production within six months. By enhancing skills and promoting sustainable business models, CAIF is significantly advancing women’s entrepreneurship and contributing to economic growth in the community.

As part of the panel "Sustainable Shift: Strategies for a Greener Fashion Supply Chain", the discussion included industry leaders deliberating on how sustainability can be embedded across the entire fashion supply chain. The discussion emphasized the importance of integrating sustainability at every stage—from suppliers to consumers—highlighting how such practices can enhance brand reputation, drive consumer loyalty, and support long-term growth in the garment industry.

Moderated by Nisha Menezes, Director – Climate and Energy at PwC, the panel also featured Shankar Raman D., COO of Aquarelle India; Peush Narang, Representative for India & Sri Lanka at Cotton Council International; Sandeep Das, CEO of Greater China and President of Global Softlines and Hardlines at Intertek; Aashray Thatai, Director and Head of Strategy & Business Development at FA Home and Apparel Pvt Ltd.; Anurag Gupta, MD and CEO of USHA YARNS LIMITED; and Dr. Sunder Balakrishnan, MD of Natur Tec India.

At @apparelsourcingwk 2024, @siddharthlulla , Principal, @intellecap was part of an engaging fireside chat on "Green Funding for Apparel & Textile for Net Zero Outcome." The discussion focused on the critical role of green funding in driving the apparel and textile industries towards net-zero emissions. Siddharth shared insights on how sustainable investment strategies can support eco-friendly innovations and practices, helping businesses achieve their sustainability goals.

The session also featured insights from Jayanth Kashyap B., Investment Lead at Good Fashion Fund, and was moderated by Prem Sadhwani from ProTecht.

Delighted to share that @siddharthlulla, Principal, Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF), an @intellecap initiative is a Speaker at the Apparel Sourcing Week on Aug 28-29 at Sheraton Grand, Whitefield, Bengaluru.

At Intellecap, Siddharth has been instrumental in driving programmatic initiatives to accelerate the transition to decarbonised circular supply chains for leading apparel and textile players. In his previous experience, he has been instrumental in driving the retail presence and diversification of one of India’s leading fashion brands. An MBA graduate from the Indian School of Business, Siddharth works actively with start-ups to provide mentoring and fundraising support.
