As food insecurity continues to rise across Toronto, yesterday’s Daily Bread Food Bank Member Agency Conference reminded us of the power of shared experience.

Over 100 staff and volunteers representing our network across Toronto came together to learn, share, and strengthen the work happening every day to support neighbours with dignity, compassion, and care.

From advocacy and accessibility to harm reduction and client-centred service, the day was a powerful reflection of what’s possible when we collaborate to meet growing needs, together.

Thank you to everyone working tirelessly to ensure no one in our city goes hungry. Learn more by visiting the link in our bio!

Creativity met community impact at this year’s Canstruction Toronto competition! 🏗️🥫

From larger-than-life sculptures to iconic recreations, 17 incredible designs transformed the TD Centre, First Canadian Place, and Exchange Tower — all built entirely from canned food in support of Daily Bread.

This year, 81,613 cans of shelf-stable food items were used in the designs to help support people across Toronto experiencing food insecurity. Over the past 24 years, Canstruction has donated more than 1 million pounds of food to Daily Bread.

A huge thank you to every team, volunteer, sponsor, and organizer who helped make this year’s event possible. Your creativity and generosity continue to make a meaningful difference in our city.

The Canstruction designs will remain on display until Friday, May 15. Learn more by visiting the link in our bio 📱

When Jemma moved to Toronto in 2025, she started creating tiny illustrations inspired by the city’s neighbourhoods, landmarks, and everyday moments, just for herself.

One video later, @tooniestamps was born: miniature Toronto-inspired prints sold for $2 to make art accessible and celebrate the city’s communities.

Now, Toonie Stamps is giving back. Throughout May, half of the proceeds from every stamp sold will support Daily Bread Food Bank — helping provide meals for the more than one in ten Torontonians who rely on food banks for emergency food access.

For Jemma, the partnership reflects what Toonie Stamps has always been about: connection, community, and celebrating the city we share. And we’re so grateful for the support
💛

At Daily Bread Food Bank, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

Every box packed, every item sorted, every meal prepared and every welcoming smile helps ensure people across Toronto can access the food they need with dignity.

Last week we hosted a National Volunteer Week reception to celebrate the incredible individuals who who give their time, energy and care to support our neighbours. Through their dedication, compassion, and willingness to show up, they’re helping build a city where the more than one in ten Torontonians relying on food banks can access the food they need. To our volunteers: thank you for being the spark that ignites change. And to those thinking about getting involved, this is your moment. Join us, take action, and be part of something bigger.

Although National Volunteer Week might be coming to a close, we want to take the opportunity to highlight one final volunteer, Jonathan. Here’s a bit more about more about him:

Since November, Jonathan has been volunteering at Daily Bread, starting in food sorting before finding his place in the food bank, where he’s been a friendly presence for the past few months. These days, you’ll find him there three times a week, helping keep things running smoothly.

What stands out most isn’t just his commitment, but the way he connects with people. Jonathan genuinely enjoys interacting with clients and fellow volunteers, and it shows—he’s built friendships and brings a positive, welcoming energy to every shift. Regardless of the task, he takes pride in making sure everything is ready for the next person who walks through the door.

Jonathan also shared how much he values the environment at Daily Bread: the respect, the teamwork, and the sense that everyone belongs. He’s been struck by the care and structure behind the scenes—and he’s embraced it fully, even completing training to better support and de-escalate more challenging situations.

Jonathan, thank you for regularly donating your time to ensure that clients can access emergency food supports! 💛

For Chris, volunteering isn’t about recognition. It’s about a simple question: “How can I help?” ✨

After retiring in 2022, Chris brought a lifetime of public service into his next chapter by joining Daily Bread as a volunteer. Four years later, he’s a steady presence every week, sorting food, and doing whatever needs to be done to help get meals into the hands of people who need them most.

What started as a way to give back quickly became something more. Chris found not only purpose, but a community, with friendships built in the production hall, extending through to shared lunches, and even rounds of golf.

But what keeps him coming back is bigger than routine. Seeing firsthand the growing need for food support across the city has been eye-opening. It reinforces his commitment to show up, contribute, and be part of something that makes a real difference. “It just makes me feel good, knowing I’m helping in some way,” he shared.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re grateful for people like Chris, whose dedication, consistency, and generosity remind us that meaningful impact often starts with a simple willingness to help 🫶

This National Volunteer Week, we’re shining a spotlight on the parishioners from St. George’s on-the-Hill! They are one of the many incredible community groups that consistently roll up their sleeves to support our work 💛

What began years ago as a food drive for Daily Bread has grown into a committed, hands-on volunteer effort. Today, this dedicated group shows up multiple times each month, ready to jump in wherever help is needed. In the production hall, they sort and prepare food for distribution—but what they take away goes far beyond the task at hand.

The group shared that: “Volunteering has opened our eyes to the real and growing need in our city. Its reminded us that food insecurity can affect anyone—people from all walks of life. And it’s shown us that even the smallest actions—an hour of time, a single donation—can make a difference.”

Through this experience, the group has built stronger connections with one another, sharing laughs, meaningful conversations, and even turning carrot-sorting into a friendly competition 🥕

When reflecting on their time volunteering, they highlighted a powerful takeaway: a deep sense of pride in being part of something bigger, and getting to do it together.
Thank you to St. George’s on-the-Hill for your ongoing commitment to helping end hunger in Toronto 🫶

We’d like to introduce you to Joan 💛

After arriving in Canada with her family, she wanted to stay active and give back. What started as an administrative volunteer role at Daily Bread quickly grew into something more. For nearly two years she has been a steady, compassionate presence in our Information & Referral department, helping clients navigate services like income supports, housing and legal, book appointments, and connect them with the resources that they need.

Her impact goes beyond logistics, and she’s making a difference in the lives of others every single week. “Seeing someone leave with a smile—that’s everything,” she shares. “It’s fulfilling in a way money can’t replace.” Through her work, she’s built new skills, deepened her empathy, and even helped others become volunteers themselves—creating a ripple effect of support in the community.

Volunteers like Joan are at the heart of what makes this work possible. Thank you for all that you do! ✨

This #NationalVolunteerWeek, we’re highlighting a few of our fantastic volunteers, like Christine 🌟

After retiring from elementary teaching in 2024, Christine set out to find a meaningful way to stay active and connected in her community, and she found it in the Daily Bread kitchen.
From prepping fresh ingredients and assembling meals (her personal favorite is getting to use the fryer!), Christine has become an essential part of the team that helps serve daily lunches to volunteers and staff, consistently volunteering 3-4 times each week.

When she first started volunteering, Christine wasn’t sure what to expect, but she found more than just a routine. She found connection, purpose, and a sense of belonging.

Whether she’s working alongside staff, stepping in to help wherever needed, or sharing a laugh with fellow volunteers, she brings care and consistency to everything she does.
“I know I can’t solve everything,” she says, “but I can do my part.” And that part matters. Every egg peeled, every plate prepared, and every shift covered all add up to something bigger. Sometimes, it’s the small, steady acts of showing up that make the biggest difference.

Thank you, Christine, for being such an important part of our community 💫

This week is National Volunteer Week, which celebrates the people who choose to contribute their time and experience in support of others. At Daily Bread, we’re extremely fortunate to receive the support of so many volunteers whose dedication makes the work we do possible. Over the course of the week, we’ll be highlighting a few of the amazing individuals and groups who give their time by volunteering with us 💛💛💛

Meet, Don! 👋 After retiring, he made a simple but meaningful decision: to give back. What started as a desire to stay active and contribute has turned into years of consistent impact.

For nearly a decade, he’s been a steady presence in our warehouse, volunteering on a weekly basis since March 2017 to help build food orders for distribution to programs across the city.

For Don, volunteering has been more than just lending a hand. It’s also been a way to connect with others, and make a difference. As he puts it best, the experience is simply: “rewarding.”

Don, thank you for helping show the impact and importance of giving back! We’re so grateful for all that you do at Daily Bread!

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
