We’re excited to share that 2026 Disney Program Writer Kat Vladimirova has staffed again this year on Season 3 of ABC/20th’s SHIFTING GEARS! Earlier this spring, Kat joined Season 2 of a Disney Branded Television comedy, where she also co-wrote an episode! Kat is looking forward to bringing her talent for writing multi-cams to the staff of SHIFTING GEARS, where she previously worked as a Script Coordinator, prior to the program. Kat is a seasoned industry assistant and alum of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She draws from personal experience to write about dysfunctional families – whether real or found – in comedic ways. Keep rocking, Kat!

Congrats to 2026 Disney Program Writer, Mariam Girgis, who has staffed on Season 2 of ABC/20th’s SCRUBS! An Egyptian-American comedy writer from Southern California, Mariam was the Writers’ Assistant on Netflix’s Dolly Parton’s HEARTSTRINGS, and the Showrunner’s Assistant on HBO Max’s TOONED OUT and Paramount+’s THE GAME. She also wrote a freelance episode of the Disney animated series THE GHOST & MOLLY MCGEE. Between shows, Mariam works in digital content and social media, and she is an alum of the Upright Citizens Brigade. On her personal Tik Tok account, she has amassed millions of views creating comedic content centered on pop culture. Viewers have commented that they think she may be “the funniest person alive.” A rare kidney disease and a history of medical maladies has given Mariam insight into what it means to navigate hospitals and medical staff. Keep shining, Mariam!

Kudos to 2026 Disney Program Writer, Monica Lucas, who has staffed on Season 1 of ABC/20th’s THE ROOKIE NORTH! A neurodivergent, Puerto Rican drama writer, Monica is a former "Washington insider" who worked in the U.S. Department of State and for various nonprofits and think tanks before receiving her MFA in Writing for Screen and Television from USC.She’s since worked as a Showrunner's Assistant for an Amazon show helmed by Meredith Stiehm and as a hybrid Showrunner's Assistant / Writers' Assistant for a Netflix show helmed by Kasi Lemmons. Monica was named a 2024 Artist Disruptor by the Center for Cultural Power, a Writer-in-Residence at Hedgebrook, and an Official Selection of the 2025 Women’s List. She is also the only writer to date to be awarded both the Accelerate Screenwriting Fellowship and the Visionary Filmmaking Fellowship by the Inevitable Foundation, which supports the careers of disabled writers. She loves to write about unconventional characters forced into power struggles they were never meant to win. Keep up the amazing work, Monica!

Congratulations to 2026 Disney Program Writer, Maya Florin, who has staffed on Season 2 of ABC/20th’s 9-1-1 NASHVILLE! A queer, Puerto Rican-American writer, Maya earned her BA in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University and went on to work in television and film development at MarVista Entertainment, Skydance Media, and Peacock. She also worked as a TV Lit Coordinator at Buchwald before becoming the Script Coordinator on CBS’ NCIS: ORIGINS.She was also a part of Film Independent’s inaugural Story Residency. Maya uses her experience as a military brat and her knowledge of different cultures to tell meaningful found family stories that explore identity and belonging, no matter the platform or tone of the show. Amazing work, Maya!

Congratulations to 2026 Disney Program Writer and 2026 FX John Singleton Scholar, Cassidy Lee, who has staffed on Season 1 of FX’s DISINHERITED!Adopted from Korea at a young age and raised in the Midwest cornfields, Cassidy enjoys writing about identity and belonging, often with a political or thrilling bent. Prior to the program, she was a fellow in the Mentorship Matters Initiative, the WIF x Black List Episodic Lab, and the #StartWith8 Career Development Program, and wrote for the Korean variety show, ACROSS AND AROUND AMERICA.Before transitioning to writing, Cassidy worked as an executive in development and production, first at Propagate Media, then at Rashida Jones’ Le Train Train Productions.Keep up the amazing work, Cassidy!

We’re excited to share that 2026 Disney Program Writer, Ekaterina Vladimirova, has staffed on Season 2 of a Disney Branded Television series (as yet unannounced)! The daughter of a Russian-by-way-of-Uzbekistan immigrant, Kat grew up on the Arizona-Mexico border and has a unique relationship with identity and hyphens. Kat’s worked her way up in the TV Writers’ room, as Writers’ Assistant on DELI BOYS, SINGLE DRUNK FEMALE, and Zoe Lister-Jones’ SLIP, and as a Script Coordinator on the first two seasons of SHIFTING GEARS.She began her entertainment career as the assistant to producer Jenni Konner.Kat has a BFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she also learned how to be a lesbian.Kudos, Kat!

• The DET Scripted Directing Program - Primetime is a two-year program guaranteeing shadowing and
episodic opportunities on broadcast series produced by Disney's television studio
• The DET Unscripted Directing Program and the DET Scripted Directing Program - Daytime are
one-year programs guaranteeing shadowing and segment directing opportunities on alternative/unscripted and scripted soaps
