May brings flower buds, baby geese, and a boatload of listening hours.
I listen to a lot of music all year long, but as a jury member for the Polaris Music Prize, May is voting month and the music is non-stop. I’ll be playing the couple hundred albums nominated as Canada’s best until I finally cast my ballot. It’s a lot of work, but an absolute pleasure, and a privilege.
As a prize recognizing artistic merit in the musical realm, we explore every genre, and conceptual projects across the spectrum. As art does, a lot of social messages, both strong and subtle, were shared. For whatever reason, trumpets figured largely in the mix this year. And, we heard a lot of instrumental albums ranging from the haunting comfort of The Banff Suite by Frank Horvat and Vicky Chow, to the Nick Schofield’s soothing electric Blue Hour to the wild and wacky Angine de Poitrine raging like wildfire through the underground.
Our first round of votes will determine the official Polaris long list, announced June 11 (@polarismusicprize for updates!)
Through the next month, I’ll be sharing my personal long list of 2026 nominees in my stories (ongoing list below) — a small slice of so much amazing music released by Canadian artists in the last year.
Listen to the clips, dive in to what grabs you, and support the incredible talent we have by sharing and talking about what you love.
Here’s to Canadian artists, and another exciting Polaris year.

Yay for Saturday surprises!
.
Diamond Jubilee is, hands down, my favourite album. In fact, I’m curious about what future effort may knock it out of that top spot. Not only is immense talent on display, this project just hits right, and I’m so grateful for the feels, vision, time, energy, and collaboration that brought it into existence.
.
On this, the day of Cindy Lee’s final show, I unexpectedly received a shirt from her Toronto gig. I couldn’t make it back to catch the show @masseyhall, but this was the best trade for my ticket 💫
.
Heartfelt thanks to the Assaly brothers who made it happen 💎💎

Of all the honours I’ve earned in my lifetime, this one’s excited me most — my first design award.
Architecture and design have been a fascination my whole adult life, and whenever possible I’ve worked at it through projects big and small.
A couple years ago, I was questioning where my path was leading, and turned to school because learning anything always helps. I’ve slowly been working through the U of A’s Residential Interiors program, and submitted my final project from last semester’s lighting course for the 2025 DIDAA awards (Alberta’s interior design org). My project won first place in the student category, and I am thrilled.
Thank you to DIDAA members for the amazing mentorship, support, and professionalism — I can’t wait to work with you as a new member of the board.
Bonus note: I won a door prize at the awards gala — this stunning necklace from local jewellery designer, Mi and Bee. And my swag bag was full of fabulous loot from small Canadian businesses including Pure Anada’s totally lux French lavender hand cream, Moody Bee lip balm, a milk chocolate bar from Peace By Chocolate, and a print named ‘Jenny’ from artist Susannah Bleasby, who works as Susannah Bee.
The print name matched, the print and jewellery colours matched my outfit, and the through line of names with my feline friend Mizzy Bee — coincidence, or the universe aligning for me? Either way, spoiled and grateful 🙏🫶

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
This free tool allows you to view Instagram Stories anonymously, ensuring your activity remains hidden from the story uploader.
