FOR THE MOMENT AND FOR THE RECORD

Last year I had the honor to show this piece @donaufestival.

The sound installation “For the Moment and for the Record” features two bodies that require their physical presence to demonstrate their properties.
In the juxtaposition of these two bodies, their touch becomes sound/gesture
- the gesture becomes communication.
It doesn’t actually say something,
but rather demonstrates the human existence in language as pure mediacy. Essentially, the gesture is also the
“not finding oneself in language.”
A gesture of pointing, directed towards other people as an interaction between humans, can take on the character of a social gesture - even in music. However, what is crucial is not just what is said or done, but how it is done. The manner of a gesture, its “intonation” as well as its effect, removes a gesture from its original context. Thus, the gesture is not just the realm of a purpose in itself, but of pure and purposeless mediacy that communicates itself to humans.
If “the elevated quality in language is the unsaid, unarticulated,” then in music, the elevated quality might be the unanalyzable, unnotatable, perhaps even what goes beyond the articulable.

FOR THE MOMENT AND FOR THE RECORD @ Semperdepot, Academy of fine Arts, Vienna, 2021

Based on the idea of constructing an interaction between two bodies, the sound installation For the moment and for the record shows two bodies that need their physical presence in order todemonstrate their properties. By swinging the pendulum, it brushes the strings of the electric guitar, whereby these touches and the sounds they generate, send the impulse back to the pendulum via an Arduino. The pendulum is kept vibrating by the frequencies of the amplified guitar. By converting the analog guitar signal into a digital signal (Arduino), a self-sustaining circuit is created.

It’s about what shapes us before we have language for it.
Inherited longings.

Lost futures that still resonate within us.

These pieces move between memory and projection, control, power and surrender ..
between what can be spoken and what remains as atmosphere.

for Where Are My Keys - WrK „Portable Paradises“ @where.are.my.keys.art

This sound installation is a multi-layered collage, combining a sonic, algorithmic translation of my social media feed with text in the physical space.

„This particular public space, once a physical meeting point where news, stories, and conversations converged, offered a tangible link to events, and shaped how people understood their lives in relation to the world. Today, it symbolizes the fracture in our engagement with reality.
In auditory terms, a ‚notch‘ refers to the selective attenuation or removal of a specific frequency, creating a gap where clarity is lost. Here, “the notch“ becomes a metaphor for this rupture-a gap in our contemporary consciousness, a blind spot created by the very mechanisms we once relied upon to connect us. It reflects a deeper disconnection, where clarity is drowned in the noise of endless, unfocused information.
Social media has amplified this dynamic, fundamentally altering how information is spread and processed. What was once a direct exchange of news and ideas has become a distorted, fragmented transmission.
Algorithms filter content and often amplify extreme positions, while important context is lost. Information no longer travels in straight lines but is warped, distorted, and reflected through the echo chambers of social media, creating confusion instead of understanding.
