Check out this short doc I produced alongside the Discodelic crew, as we pay homage to this unsung hero of the bay!

Musica Latina was a record/music store that operated in The Mission District from 1967 to 2010. When the store closed, it did so without much fanfare; no articles were written about it, and save for a few hardcore record collectors, most folks seemed to accept it as another casualty of the ever-changing cultural landscape of The Mission.

But unbeknown to most folks, the store's remaining inventory of tens of thousands of sealed LPs and unplayed deadstock 45s were carefully and diligently cared for by Musica Latina's founder and owner, Ernesto Gonzalez. For the last 15 years, the collection remained under his fastidious obsessive care, untouched by anyone else. And now, at the ripe age of 90 years old, Ernesto finally accepted that it was time to let go and pass on the remaining part of his legacy, and called @discodelic_discos_viajantes to make a deal.

What revealed was an incredible depository of vinyl, a true time capsule of Latin music from the late 1960s through the 1990s available in San Francisco, a treasure trove of impossible to find rarities.
