East Yard Communities for EJ
Grassroots leadership, environmental justice, and members having fun.

The Compost Hub volunteer hours for May are out! We will also be accepting food scraps during these times. If you would like to start volunteering with us please reach out to composthub@eycej.org or 213-807-6218. We hope to see you there!

East Yard is celebrating 25 years of community resistance and movement-building. Our annual Fighting for Life Celebration uplifts the work of our members and the organization in advancing environmental justice in the region and beyond. We also honor and recognize partners from all sectors of the movement who have helped conspire to bring healthier, more breathable, livable communities for frontline residents.
This year, we will be honoring two incredible champions of environmental justice: Molly Greenberg and Bill Moyer. Their dedication inspires us all to make a difference.
In the past year, we have been faced with and resisted environmental rollbacks, community isolation and violence, and threats to funding. We have met these challenges by creating safe spaces, continuing our education and advocacy work, all while growing our community base that needs a larger, more effective home.
Our Fighting for Life Celebration continues to focus on fundraising for our Community Action and Resilient Environment (CARE) center, which will help meet community needs as a resilience center and organizing space.
So join us on August 1 to share an unforgettable evening of tasty food, lively music, and the joy of coming together. Let’s take this opportunity to uplift one another and celebrate our shared mission.

Thank you to everyone who came out tonight to spend time with the Paayme Paxaayt (west river, LA River) in community against the East LA Oil Spill and especially to @comradeannie17 for lighting the spark to bring us all together! One of the many things shared and learned came from @lruuiz who let everyone know what’s going down in South Gate tomorrow regarding public land used for an oil pipeline. Swipe the slides to learn more and take action.

East LA Oil Spill Update: This is a liaison update from the Unified Command (government agencies and corporations with authority and responsibility) on the East LA Oil Spill. These type of updates should be met with scrutiny and skepticism. The history of environmental racism impacting our communities has taught us that government agencies and corporations lie about the impacts on our communities to reduce liability ($$$). Other times they tell on themselves. For example, storm drain cleanup is barely starting today? So our communities were being exposed to VOCs from the spill site to the river all weekend?! Too often disaster in our community isn’t treated like an emergency. Just business as usual. Stay trucha!

THE EAST LA OIL SPILL ISN’T OVER… AND IT ISN’T JUST IMPACTING EAST LA!!! At some point the media will move on, and the government agencies and polluters will want to move on too, but our community will have to keep vigilant and continue to apply pressure to make sure we are protected. Swipe the slides to learn some more about what that will look like.

EAST LA OIL SPILL: We have been working hard for hours since early this morning communicating directly with community, agencies & elected officials to build bridges and get everyone updated on what has been happening. There are lots more details, and more to be done, but here are some updates.

This last weekend, MFN members caravanned to Barstow in solidarity with residents speaking out about the B.I.G. freight project 🚛
People showed up carrying banners reading “Protect What You Love” and “BIG Pollution, BIG Problems” while raising concerns about air quality and environmental impacts on frontline communities.
Some of these connections actually began through Episode 1 of The Lines We Live On docuseries ❤️
The project was approved by the Planning Commission and now moves to City Council in June.
More reflections from this solidarity work coming soon.

Earlier this year, the East Yard Board of Directors organized the Too Many Tamales fundraiser to benefit the Madeline Gardea Social and Environmental Justice Scholarship, which supports youth from communities along the 710 corridor.
The tamales sold were from local vendors, and ul-tamal-itely a vendor from Lynwood, Flor, won the coveted Too Many Tamales hand-embroidered apron! You can try a variety of Flor’s delicious tamales near the Dollar Tree store entrance in Lynwood (10821 Long Beach Blvd, Lynwood, CA 90262) from Thursdays through Mondays, 7 to 11:30 a.m. or until she runs out.
Thank you to all who supported, and keep an eye out for more info on the scholarship! If you would like to contribute to the scholarship, you can still donate at EYCEJ.org.

Yesterday we mobilized to Barstow because BNSF wants to build the biggest rail yard in the country there. That means more trains, more pollution, more health issues in our communities from the ports, to the rail lines on the Eastside, and through the Inland Empire. The Alameda Corridor could have and should have been electrified decades ago. ELECTRIFY ALAMEDA NOW!!!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
This free tool allows you to view Instagram Stories anonymously, ensuring your activity remains hidden from the story uploader.
Anonstories lets users view Instagram stories without alerting the creator.
