Clad in western red from @woodmanship_sawmills this garden art studio about 1 mile from my house was another winter project that I wrapped up yesterday.
I would’ve loved to have steered a bit more traditional carpentry into this but the client was pretty focused on what she wanted, and I think it turned out pretty smart in any case.
Could easily be a tiny house this one, with the storage/mezz above.There’s a smaller room on one end (no pictures inside because it’s already full of lawnmowers and junk ‘temporarily’) and that’s also got a little mezzanine.

Oxfordshire was fun for a couple of days with @no_sense_no_chegwyn (who literally never had the faintest idea where we were at any time).
Got a little oak frame roof on in the sun in the company of a couple of talented young builders, and had a couple of breezy evenings down at Botley bowl (a super fun park made by canvas).

One of my typically ace customers has let me and @no_sense_no_chegwyn to rest our heads in this lovely little house whilst we are here to add a new roof frame onto the adjacent building.
I cut and fitted the oak frame on this with @olly.hammond a couple of years ago.It was winter when we did that and the place was a heavy duty building site, but it’s really scrubbed up well.

Me n Miss Natalie loitered in the shadows behind a bouncing and excitable packed @outside_devon last night.@getdown_services smashed out a properly bangin set which made even the concrete floor feel like it was springy.Definitely up there with best gigs ever for energy and good vibes.It was mostly thanks to their ergonomic bean bags I think…#earsringing

There was a bright sunny ball of sunniness in the sky today, and it was very very welcome.The year so far can mostly be described as somewhere between damp and desperately wet, and it gets tiring doesn’t it?
Hooked up with @no_sense_no_chegwyn in Totnes and had a roll for a few hours with some really talented local lads plus plymouths most mythical commercial fisherman @trawlerrider who’s been not catching fish for a living since picking up that nick name 40 or more years ago.

It’s been a monster few weeks of back to back crazy long days and something of a blur to say the least.I’m no stranger to putting in an epic shift, but this has possibly raised the bar just a tiny bit.

Everywhere is still a full on building site here at the cabin job, so I decided to make myself feel a bit better by looking more closely at some bits.
Without goin too deep on it, I’d say learning to ignore the fluff and focus on the nice bits is probably a broader life principle that I should spend a bit more time working on.

Staying in the shallow end though... I’m now ready for the sparks to come back and put some power into their danger spaghetti dangling all over the place.
I’m not ready for the plumber to fix taps and sinks to all his mystery tubes though, so we must push on….and occasionally let our eyes wander back to the nice bits.#cabinbuild#smallspaces#gardenbuilding#woodenbuildings#villagecarpenter#devon

My micro pal @gracie_k_skater launched into it last weekend and I think it’s just amazing that a 7 year old can be such a positive influence on an ageing crust like me.These mini rippers are everywhere now and they inspire me at least as much as all the older blokes from my youth.

And the fact that it’s not almost entirely just blokes now is even cooler still.

Be prepared for these kids honestly brutal appraisal of your fearful wobblyness though 😂
