Short answer… it’s not always easy 😅
There have been long days, tough conversations, and moments where business and life blur together more than we’d like. But there’s also been a whole lot of laughter, growth, and learning how to truly support each other in every season.
We’ve built First Sip side by side, through the highs, the pivots, the challenges no one sees, and the wins that make it all worth it.
Dennis has been in the business full-time for 8 years now, and I’ve been full-time for 5, and every step of the way has been about figuring it out together.
We’ve learned how to communicate better, set boundaries, lean into each other’s strengths, and push each other to grow, not just as business owners, but as people.
At the end of the day, we wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else.

One of the most meaningful parts of building First Sip Studios has been the people.
The partnerships. The collaborations. The connections that started as business… and turned into something so much more.
We’ve had the opportunity to work with so many incredible individuals, organizations, and fellow entrepreneurs over the years, people who inspire us, challenge us, and remind us why we do what we do.
And then there are the ones who have been there from the beginning-ish.
Jen, our graphic designer, is the owner of @hootdesignstudio. I had been following her work on Instagram for a year before I finally told Dennis that we needed a professional, and I knew just the one. Jen has designed so much for us over the years. If you still own any First Sip Brew Box shirts, she most likely designed them! She has also created this beautiful logo for us to celebrate 10 years! One of our proudest moments with Jen is creating the Make Peace not War video with her designs and our storytelling and winning our marketing award with it, for best cause-related video.
Julie, our forever photographer until she tells us otherwise😂 @juliekahlbaugh, we have known since 2019, I think. She was working at a beer festival that Kennywood used to put on, and had taken some great pictures of us. After talking, we asked her if she would be willing to do our branded photos. Here we are... 2026, and she still captures us and our goofiness.
What started as working relationships has turned into genuine friendships, and we’re so proud to watch them build and run their own successful businesses.
This is what it’s all about.
Supporting each other. Growing together. Building something bigger than ourselves.

10 years ago, this journey started with long nights at @barnesandnoble ; reading, learning, dreaming, and building a vision for something we hoped could become more.
In 2016, that vision became First Sip Brew Box, a craft beer subscription company that connected breweries, small businesses, and artists across the world. We shipped to 9 countries, were featured in major publications, and experienced the kind of growth every entrepreneur hopes for… but behind the scenes, it was long days, longer nights, and challenges no one ever sees.
Then came COVID.
Like so many businesses, everything changed. While sales grew, so did the pressure. Plans fell apart, margins tightened, and we had to make one of the hardest decisions of our journey—to pivot.
That pivot led to the creation of First Sip Studios in 2021.
What started as uncertainty turned into purpose. We took everything we had learned, the wins, the mistakes, the real-life experience of building a business, and turned it into something bigger than us. A way to help other small business owners succeed.
From a small space in @mtoliverpgh to now working across multiple cities, partnering with organizations, and helping hundreds of businesses grow… this journey has been anything but easy, but it’s been worth it.
Behind these 10 years are sacrifices, risks, quiet struggles, growth as individuals and as partners, and an unwavering belief in what we’re building. It’s not easy building a business, let alone with your life partner, but it’s also been one of the most rewarding parts of our lives.
Dennis and I are incredibly humbled to be here. To have made it through every high, every low, and everything in between. To have built something that not only supports us, but also supports others.
To everyone who has supported us, worked with us, partnered with us, or simply believed in us, thank you. You’ve been part of this story more than you know.
