We’ve been quiet on our socials but it’s time to get loud in the streets as we join the @togetheralliance next Saturday 28th March to show that hatred, racism and division are not the answer to our problems, and that we’re stronger together. If you’d like to join and want to march in a group, you can join us at the climate justice bloc. Please DM for meeting point details!Or why not meet with some likeminded people the night before at @sustainablehackney ‘s film night “Fires and Fascism”, with two great films and a Q&A discussing the rise of the far right and scientists efforts to show the consequences of government inaction on climate change. We’ll be there!
You can also hear from brilliant speakers at an online event on Wednesday hosted by @climatejustice_coalition !

Previous governments have failed to fully implement the Climate Change Act. After FOE won the court case last year over the inadequacy of the last government's climate plan, the new government is now legally obliged to write a new climate plan by May 2025.

The Big Climate Plan campaign has 5 demands for the UK government:

1. Keep its promises to cut carbon emissions by developing credible policies, created with experts and the public.

2. Invest in our future by fairly funding local, national and international climate action. This includes making rich polluters pay.

3. Ensure everyone can live in a warm home powered by cheap, clean energy.

4. Deliver affordable, reliable public transport and clean air for all.

5. Help people find well-paid green jobs by providing investment and training, especially for sectors and places most at risk of being left behind.

If you live in Tottenham, sign the petition to send a message to David Lammy and the Prime Minister that we need a plan that is ambitious, comprehensive, and fair: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/tell-keir-starmer-to-deliver-a-big-climate-plan-6

Or if you live in a different constituency: https://members.parliament.uk/findyourmp?SearchText=N42A

Last night we met with @metecoban92, Deputy Mayor of London for Environment and Energy, at Friends of the Earth HQ with other Local Action Groups. We had a really invaluable discussion on topics such as London's green transition, and how we can work together to support communities most affected by climate injustice. Thank you for your time and words Mete #climateissues #friendsoftheearth

World Wetland Day is a day to raise awareness of the importance of wetlands both for nature and the planet.

This year's theme is "Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future." Wetlands are critical allies in climate mitigation and adaptation, and yet are still being lost at alarming rates.

Let's celebrate and protect our wetlands. If you are in East London, get out and enjoy the sun today in our beautiful Hackney Marshes and Walthamstow Wetlands!

According to Race for Nature UK, the environmental sector is one of the least diverse in the UK, all while Black, Asian, Indigenous and other communities of colour are disproportionately impacted by climate change and unequal access to green spaces. As an environmental organisation based in East London, we know that Black individuals, groups and communities are integral to a more just, effective and inclusive climate movement. This Black History Month, we wanted to share some celebrations, cultural exchanges and discussions that are happening in Hackney & Tower Hamlets. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list, and it’s important to work towards an anti-racist climate movement all year round.See below for more details:

Friends of the Earth Hackney and Tower Hamlets stand in solidarity with Muslim, Black, Asian, refugee and immigrant communities locally and across the country. We invite our members and every one of us to call out this racist, Islamophobic violence and show our support, both now and ongoing. We are re-sharing calls to action in these slides, although this is not an exhaustive list:
A) @standuptoracismuk are organising anti-racist protests in London and nationally on Saturday 10th August. If it’s safe for you to attend, @gbclegal regularly hold ‘Know your rights’ training.
B)Write to your MP to ask them to advocate for recalling parliament, given the urgency of this national crisis. You can find information at theyworkforyou.co.uk
C)Donate to migrant justice and/or anti-racist organisations on the ground, or help to repair the damages to mosques and community spaces via GoFundMe pages set up for this purpose. If you can afford to, consider making a regular donation which helps the sustainability of these movements.
D) Show solidarity, whether that’s in your local community or online. @care4calais are collecting signatures for a message of solidarity that will be delivered to every accommodation site they work in, and @conversationoverborders hand deliver welcome messages to people newly arrived in the UK.
Finally, we want to acknowledge that these scenes add to the mental health burden for people with lived experience of racism. We hope that you are able to do whatever you need to look after your physical and mental health at this time. @blackmindsmatter.uk offer free, 1:1 therapy by qualified Black therapists, and @inspiritedminds and Muslim Community Helpline provide support for members of the Muslim community.
Friends of the Earth Hackney & Tower Hamlets know we have work to do to be a more effectively and proactively anti-racist group, which does not begin and end with an Instagram post. Let’s continue working together to create a world where racial and climate justice are fully realised.

@friends_earth and @greenpeaceuk have done some amazing work analysing the manifestos of the four main political parties to see how effective their policies are at addressing climate change and injustice. We’ve also signposted some sources of information about this general election— whether you’re not sure who your local preferred candidate is, or whether you want to figure out which party matches up best with what you care about. With just two days to go until the UK general election, remember that, however you vote, your vote matters!

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
