Excited to bring the ‘Altered’ listening experience to New York. Unwind with us on September 30th for an evening of immersive sound at the Dolby Screening Room. Mixed in Atmos, the album transports listeners through a deeply layered sonic landscape. Superposition’s third studio album ‘Altered’ is out everywhere now.

‘Altered’ is a deep listening album with the intention to be experienced to from start to finish.

Created over a two year period, they brought together a multitude of acoustic and electronic techniques to produce something otherworldly.

Close your eyes, tune out, drop in.

Music is a cosmic root system that connects us.

‘Innerspace Music’ is an album of collected wisdom paired with music.

Why release an album of guided musical meditations?

Do you need music to meditate? No, absolutely not. On one level it’s certainly pointless. And that’s why I think it’s so fun. It’s like decorating a perfect tree. 

You don’t need extra stuff to find the stillness. You don’t need a teacher, an app, or anything; you have everything with you right now. But we all get stuck along the way and could use a little help from our friends, that’s why these tools are here. 

I like the idea of teachers as signposts along the way.

You know when you give a dog a pill and you stick it in peanut butter to make it go down? That’s how I think of putting music behind meditation. Helps it go down.

The practice of making these pieces is very personal to me; it is an act of meditation in itself. The music holds an intention; there is a bed behind each piece that might give it a deeper meaning, or add an emotional hue. A light at the end of the tunnel.

The music is like a firefly flittering around a tree “Hey fellow traveler, look this way!”

The music might be an on-ramp for people that aren’t seasoned meditators or are wary in some way. Just the act of listening and engaging opens the portal because the piece was created in meditation; some of the work is already done for you.

If you are new to mediation and would like to try this out, here is an invitation: give any one of these a focused listen. We recommend headphones, closing your eyes, sitting or lying down, and following along.

Kaitlyn Aurealia Smith is a kind hearted synth wizard, yogi and artist. This track was created using stems from some of the songs on her album Tides, which Superposition wove into another track within the same key that was waiting in the wings.

Badge Epoch, aka Max Turnbull, is a cratedigger and creative force who curates a cosmic hodge podge of sounds. It was an honor to collaborate with The Album Leaf, a cinematic composer known for his lush soundscapes. This melancholic composition, written by The Album Leaf and remixed by @superposition.world, balances beautifully with the sweet depth and gentle guidance of Jack Kornfield, a renowned Buddhist teacher. Jeremiah is a talented musician and member of The Lumineers. This meditative journey was created using elements from his album Piano Piano, collaged together by Superposition, with added electronic elements and drones. Ram Dass guides us with a mindfulness practice to notice the soundscape around us, clinging to nothing and just being at rest with what is.
