this song holds a special place in my heart. i started recording this tune with my brilliant + dear producer @jonobrienrecording 3 years ago. the lyrics remind me that falling for an deceitful person doesn’t mean the love they prompted wasn’t pure.
it has evolved many times since our first day tracking it in jan 2023, when we attempted to record it live. we kept the original drums and some e. guitar that day, but rethought everything else… now it’s the accumulation of overdubs spread out over the course of years.
the recording explores page turns sonically, which reflect accurately how the last few years have felt- full of constant, necessary change.
the song even features a clip of the original iphone voice memo hidden in the pre-chorus (slide 2).
