There was 3,312 miles and 6 months of work between me and this wall, but two weeks ago I finally got to paint it and it was worth the wait.
My first Flowers Of 50 States mural went up in the Harmony Parking Lot of Downtown Brattleboro, Vermont.
It took three days, a “borrowed” ladder, some questionable techniques and a lot of iced coffee to get this done. Not to mention the beautiful strangers that stopped by to chat, cheer me on and bring me ramen (@greenmountainramen 🍜) all of whom made this experience one of the best of my life 🩷
Big shout out to @townofbrattleborogov @downtownbrattleboro @jennahstruble for letting me loose on this wall, and the continued support through the week.

On a train up to Scotland I read a book called “A Short Stay in Hell” by Steven L. Peck, which got me thinking about what happens after we die, the context of life and what people need when their time comes to an end. Redemption? Clarity? Love? Forgiveness? Hope?
On that same train journey I watched scenery fly by, the sea, hills, rain clouds, trees, cities, and daffodils, lots and lots of daffodils.
Daffodils symbolize new beginnings, rebirth, and joy; and with their blooming in the early spring, just after winter, they represent hope 💛
So when I approached this wall, I knew I wanted to channel a lot of the thoughts and feelings I’ve been dealing with, using my clean crisp typeface to juxtapose with the drippy, messy flowers - an insight into how my mind navigates complex thoughts, with of course, a splash of humour.
