I quit my last “REAL” job in 2014 to follow my heart and chase the music full time and never looked back. But every once in a while I pay homage to the bartending days in NYC and visit @singsingavea

I decided I didn’t even want my final paycheck. I believed in myself that hard, left it there under my register when I closed that night to remind myself there is more to life than a steady check. I don’t know, I thought I was being poetic or something.

Happy birthday dad. You’re dead now but this ain’t the first time i’ve had to say it into the wind. I know you hear me. If there is one thing you taught me that stuck, it’s that I must always stand ten toes for what is good and true. Thank you for instilling fearlessness in me, ironically sometimes through fear, and for always being the ultimate badass.

Guys the world is a little messed up right now. I have some things to say about it. I will not hide and pretend that it’s not our duty as artists to document world history as it’s happening. It feels really weird to just watch entertainers move through this space pretending their “in a bubble” career is more important than the reality around us. Not every song has to be heavy. It’s good to be light and help people forget the world’s sorrows. But every once in a while, you gotta sack up like dylan, lennon, marley, joni and hendrix taught us to do.
