Khandice Anselm was given the task of creating a piece inspired by a visual art. When Khandice discovered Misha Bart’s, ‘Bleached Corrosion’, she noticed the striking juxtaposition of chaos and poetry. The chaos isn’t random but rather dynamic, raw and full of movement. Khandice wanted to showcase that same poetic chaos, where the seeming disorder carries an underlying sense of purpose or emotion. She felt that could best be shown through the contrast of two different characters; 1, The inner character (wearing the vest) as the Goddess Dysnomia, dancing in the lawless land that is the outer character’s mind. In Ancient Greece, Dysnomia was the goddess of lawlessness and disorder. And 2, the outer character’s movement as an expressive, yet restrained being, juxtaposed with the inner character’s dynamic and full movement. This contrast shows a deliberate reflection of the chaos that lives in one’s mind.
