expanding and swelling
into a beautiful muchness all her own

absolutely over the moon over Inhabiting a Body is the Horror—our very first gallery at the River Park Arts Center. we have a real live gallery in the heart of our neighborhood. and we couldn’t have been happier to feature anyone than Jay McCoy. we often talk about how cool it’s been to watch the kids who grew up in the south bend we’ve helped build at MAKE and The Well and Rebel Art Fest, and Jay is the top of that class. we’re so lucky to be surrounded by such a vibrant, inventive, and loving community.

for the last thirteen years, i have had the honor of serving as the worship director of Northpoint Vineyard Church. it has been the privilege of my life to help build a church like this one—a church where the teachings of Jesus and the message of the Gospel are taken seriously as the radical hope that they offer to all people; a church where everyone is welcomed in and loved well.

and it’s because i love this church so much that it’s been so hard to recognize that it’s time to leave.

this past Sunday was my last week at Northpoint. that might seem sudden, but it really isn’t. i have been pouring from an empty cup for a while. for the last year and a half, i have been asking for a sign on whether i should stay or leave. i should have realized a while ago that the asking WAS the sign. and i should have realized that if God was calling me out, I can trust him to take care of that precious little church in my absence.

after nearly thirty years in various positions of church leadership, it’s time for me to step out of church ministry and focus more on our own endeavors. for the first time in the twelve years we’ve been working for ourselves, i’ll be able to work full time for us (a good move with that event space we just opened too).

it has been an incredible chapter, and i can’t wait for what the next one holds—both for me and for my Northpoint family.

God is good, and he is still able to do more than we can ask or imagine.
