Got to make a video for Suzanne Vega’s new song, Chambermaid. Turns out, today is the 59th anniversary of the 45 release of Bob Dylan’s I Want You, which is a happy accident you’ll understand if you check out the video over at @therealsuzannevega ‘s page (link also in my bio).

This was a real honor to make. Can’t quite believe it happened. ❤️

Speaking of legends, here’s @jerrymarottadrums at @old_soul_studios last week, laying down tracks with @kennysiegal , Tony Levin and Robert Jack for Kenny’s new peddle steel project. It was like a musical summit. Jerry is key to so many legendary tracks in his career, it seems crazy to even try to list them and arbitrary to single out just one (although Shock the Monkey is a convenient touch stone). And his @dreamlandrecordingstudio continues to incubate incredible music and records. Thanks again to Kenny for bringing me along for the day.

Offering a preview of his new album, Little Wide Open (coming next week), @kevinmorby and his incendiary band took the stage last night at @levonhelmstudios to a sold out crowd. Joined at times by producer @aarondessner (flip through), Morby’s new work wrestles with his life in music and the symbiotic long road (literal and figurative) such a committed relationship brings. A great show.

@lenny_kaye making his @levonhelmstudios debut last night, playing solo and reading from his memoir and then joining @davealvinoriginal and @jimmiedalegilmore on a handful of songs to end the night. Epic.

Got to draw a great collaboration between @davealvinoriginal and @jimmiedalegilmore last night at @levonhelmstudios . Both artists have meant so much to me over the years. First heard Dave Alvin when I was roommates with my buddy @mr.jonesmusic back in Chicago when Alvin worked with X back in the late eighties. Became such a fan that I followed along with every solo album he’s made. I came across Gilmore’s music when I lived in Austin in the nineties and first got to meet and draw him at @joespub about fifteen years ago. His wife bought a print or the original of that drawing out in the lobby of the Public Theatre after that show and I was high on a cloud for weeks. All of which is to say, if you can sense the grin I was sporting during the making of this drawing, you should know that individually (and now together), these two gentlemen have been bringing me joy for most of my life.
