मेरे घर में तीन सदस्य रहते हैं
मैं, हमीदा और खामोशी।
मैं और हमीदा कम बोलते हैं,
खामोशी ज़्यादा बोलती है।
पिछले 11 साल से हम साथ हैं।
हमारे साथ गुज़ारे वक़्त के कई सबूत
हमारी दीवारों पर टंगे फ़्रेमों में क़ैद हैं,
जिनमें मैं और हमीदा एक साथ मुस्कुरा रहे हैं।
मुझे तारीख़ें याद रखना अच्छा लगता है।
मैं अक्सर तारीख़ों को अपनी डायरी में दर्ज करके रखता हूँ
डायरी भर चुकी है,
लेकिन एक पन्ना उसमें बरसों से खाली है…
खामोशी का।
मैं हर रोज़ उसे भरने की कोशिश में
अपने दिमाग़ के घोड़े दौड़ाता हूँ
और याद करने की कोशिश करता हूँ
उस एकलौती घड़ी को
जब हम दोनों के बीच खामोशी ने जन्म लिया था।
एक वक़्त था जब बहुत सवाल-जवाब हुआ करते थे हमारे बीच,
आज वक़्त ऐसा है कि हर सवाल भी चुप्पी से किया जाता है
और उसका जवाब भी चुप्पी से दिया जाता है।
इतनी बातूनी है खामोशी
कि हम दोनों अब बोलना भूल गए हैं।
शामों में बर्तनों की खनखनाहट
खामोशी से हर रोज़ जूझती है,
और रातों में हमारे फ़ोन…
भूल से भी अगर किसी चीज़ की आवाज़
हमारी हदों को पार कर ले,
तो ऐसा लगता है जैसे किसी ने
अनजाने में बंदूक चला दी हो।
उम्र उड़ रही है, वक़्त बह रहा है।
हम एक ही छत के नीचे रहते हैं,
लेकिन चूक से भी कभी हमारी नज़रें नहीं टकरातीं।
बहाने से उसके क़रीब से गुज़रता भी हूँ,
तो उसकी साँसें नहीं सुन पाता
एक वक़्त था जब भीतर कहीं गूंजती थीं।
वो कभी भी मुझसे दूर नहीं हुई,
हम साथ रहते हैं,
एक-दूसरे के बहुत क़रीब हैं,
लेकिन खामोश…
उन दो दिलों की तरह
जिन्हें मिला दिया गया हो
उनकी धड़कनें छीनकर।
