I shared this with my sold-out audience at my concert at Field Arts Hall a few months ago – knowing that I was “safe” with an audience who was there for me, and it was not being live streamed.

This is a part of my story that I’ve never shared publicly. But as I just released the live concert on demand, and also a docuseries episode including this clip, I knew it was now “out there”, and I felt it was time to share here too. And I suppose sharing it through music is the best way I know how.

I think the video clip says it all, but this is hard for me to do and a very big deal for me to finally talk about this. So please be kind.

Leaving the LDS (Mormon) church was one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. It was a core identity for me, for my husband, and for our family. It was the only life we really knew. We were 100% completely devout orthodox members.

Leaving was like learning to breathe under water, yet it was also like coming up from water and being able to breathe for the first time (see my music video “Underwater Carnival Ride”). Going through the dark night of the soul was like navigating a storm and looking for light (see my video for “The Lighthouse”).

And even though my husband and I are united now in our exit from the faith, I wrote “Just a Teardrop in the Ocean” during a time (end of 2020) when my husband and I were in different spiritual spheres and it felt like my soul was dying slowly.

And then later when healing came, “The Metamorphosis Suite” I wrote about the caterpillar going through its change and growth in darkness and coming out the other side a beautiful butterfly. “Transcendence” I co-wrote with a friend (@ryanstewartmusic ) who also went through a similar exit from the LDS church and we connected on that (the lyrics are “With eyes to see, hearts to feel, love transcends one and love transcends all”). And eventually, I wrote “You Carried Me Home” as a thank you to my loved ones and closest friends who metaphorically brought me to shore from a tempest sea.

Hi Everyone - This year I've been quietly working on a 2nd YouTube channel called "The Creative Life of Jen". I started releasing videos on this channel back in February without telling anyone, simply because I wanted the algorithms to be 100% genuine and to show my content to people who had an interest in it.

I've had my main channel for almost 2 decades (about 65K subs). 2024 - 2025 were big project years for my channel. I released 9 music videos that I personally concepted, directed, produced and edited for my album OCEANS.That is not including the hundreds of hours in creating the extensive BTS videos for each music video.

In addition, in 2025 I spent the entire year working on and releasing a little docuseries about my life as an artist living on the Olympic Peninsula.

I started to feel a bit boxed in with my videos there.While my music videos would get anywhere from 50K to a million views, my little episodes would maybe get 500 - 1000 views.I realized that my BTS and story-telling/docuseries type of videos were more niche, and my general audience really just wanted music videos and live music performances.

SO, in 2026 I started my 2nd channel. It's been a passion project, and very humbling to start over on something completely from scratch. Currently I have just over 300 subscribers on the new channel - and don't laugh - because those were hard earned haha.

I'll keep all my music videos, music-related, and live performance videos on my main channel. BUT...my new channel is allowing me a lot more freedom to just be myself and talk about things that aren't all just about music.I have some educational videos on there, and I've been slowly re-releasing my Season 1 docuseries onto the new channel (newly re-edited and with new color grading too). I'd eventually like to also talk about some more personal things to me like how I've navigated anxiety, and SO much more.

And the best part for me? It's such a freeing creative outlet for me -as I am filming everything myself, creating the stories, and allowing it all to just be so authentically me.It's my quiet little corner of the internet.

"Faces" is a book and film written by Swedish writer/filmmaker Oswald Hunter and I am very excited to have several of my original songs featured in it. The themes of the story revolve around connecting memories and recognition through music. Thank you Oswald for this copy of your book, and I'm so excited to see the film when it's finished.
