On behalf of the citizens of Calgary, I was honoured to attend a moving Righteous Among the Nations ceremony in Calgary. We recognized the Tensen family, Dutch heroes who risked everything to shelter Jewish people during the Holocaust in Nazi-occupied Netherlands.

Pietertje Prins-Tensen and her family opened their home to protect those being hunted, offering dignity, warmth, and humanity in a time of unimaginable evil. For that courage, Hans Marius Koopal, along with Willem Jan and Jacob Tensen, were murdered by the Nazis.

Thank you to the Consul General, Canadian Society for Yad Vashem, Calgary Jewish Federation, Congregation B’nai Tikvah, and all who made this important ceremony possible.

May the memory of these heroes be a blessing. Their courage will not be forgotten.

Great to join NAIOP Calgary for a fireside chat on where our city is headed as we move toward 2 million Calgarians. We talked housing, infrastructure, downtown, public safety -- and about the big decisions needed now to keep Calgary affordable, competitive, and ready for growth.

Great to attend Connect, Bloom & Grow this weekend, hosted by the Canadian Guidance Association at City Hall. Events like this help newcomers build connections, find opportunities, support local businesses, and feel at home in Calgary. Our city is stronger when everyone succeeds and belongs.

A little snow and a lot of Calgary spirit. Great to join Elder Clarence Wolfleg and the team at Heritage Park to kick off the 2026 season. Places like this keep our stories alive, bring generations together, and remind us what makes our city special.

Great to tour the Calgary Humane Society this week. Thank you for the warm welcome and for the incredible work your team does every day. Met a few new friends, some more interested in treats than policy. Looking forward to building a closer relationship.

The story of Calgary -- Mohkinstis -- has always been one of people coming here to build a better life, to find opportunity, community, and belonging. We are a city shaped by newcomers, builders, risk-takers, and people who chose hope over fear.

Today, on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we stand with Calgary’s 2SLGBTQ+ community. Every person deserves safety, dignity, and the freedom to live openly.

As Calgary grows toward two million people, our success will depend on whether people see this as a city where they are welcomed, respected, and safe being themselves. That is the Calgary we should keep building. A confident city. A compassionate city. A city where everyone belongs.

Thank you to Wilma Hansen School for inviting me to read a Mayor’s Story Time this week. It was a joy to read with your students, meet your amazing staff, and see so much curiosity and energy in the classroom. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Really nice to be back at Bishop Carroll, my old high school. Thanks to the staff and students for the warm welcome and tour. Lots of memories, and great to see the school doing so well.
