For this edition, LACA features gloria galvez’s drawings from her research and communal investigation of bat and human cohabitation in Los Angeles. Her illustrations and mapping extend an invitation to study alongside her.

All proceeds go toward Community Reading Group’s (@community_reading_group) lecture series, which is free and open to the public.

𝐿𝒜𝒞𝒜 x Mishou Magazine are coming together to create a special edition of Mishou’s all ages magazine 💫

Mishou centers artists 15 and under, creating interactive, intergenerational work.
𝐿𝒜𝒞𝒜 is a public art archive and artist book library showing that artistic production is happening beyond established institutions.

Together, by making participatory materials about creative life more available, more artists get to see, read, hear, and lead us to challenge systems that benefit only a few.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 17 March at 12pm, we are so lucky to be joined by Hailey Loman from Los Angeles Contemporary Archive! This is the penultimate session of Another School 🍎🍎 come along, no registration needed!

Hailey Loman co-runs the Los Angeles Contemporary Archive (LACA). Hailey has gathered material from the collection about alternative artist educational models, curriculums, and will introduce Archive Night School, a programme that addresses real-life archive problems and creative methods of organising. Hailey’s session will cover this ground and begin as all Archive Night School classes did: using gossip as a generative archiving process to better understand our conditions.

𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝘀 🖊️🎈 Writing Center @ LACA:

Join a tri-weekly in-person writing group at LACA to write in community and find peer-to-peer support. Drop in to work on your essays, artist statements, stories, poems, drafts for fellowship/grant/residency applications, project proposals and more. The writing center program is open Wednesdays 6-9PM. First session starts on 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟯/𝟭𝟭

𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝘀 offers 3 hours of quiet cowriting space. The last hour will provide an optional time for participants to meet in pairs or small groups to share work and talk through projects.

Coffee, tea, pens, pencils, highlighters, post-it notes, and scrap paper will be provided.
