The Tony Award winning Court Theatre this Spring. 🤯🙌🏿 It is the thrill and honor of a lifetime to be collaborating with GENIUS Artistic Director & mentor Charlie Newell and this stacked cast of brilliant actors. The Gospel At Colonus is an iconic musical, but you’ve never seen an adaptation like this before. The past 3 weeks of rehearsal have been indescribable. We are on the precipice of something monumental.

At The Cross: A New Musical

Staging the water scenes was….fun…and challenging.
When I was writing the scene and the song, I had a version in my head. Then we got in the room, I had to push past that. I had to reimagine it. I had to rethink how I would light it.
I rethought how the LED, projections, choreography, and blocking could all work together better so it actually feels real yet practical. Which fabric? Which color blue? How much low lying? We kept adjusting. Rethinking. Letting go of my original plan. And somewhere in that process it clicked.

That’s what I love about theatre man. It forces you to imagine bigger than what’s in front of you…and then figure out how to make the audience believe it.

Simple idea. Complex execution. My favorite kind of work.

At The Cross: A New Musical sits at the intersection of grief, memory, & resurrection, told through a fusion of original music and reimagined songs. 3 years ago, I was commissioned to bring a Broadway style musical celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ to Dallas…and watching what this has become, I feel so blessed. I couldn’t be more proud of this cast, crew and creative team. We created something that matters. I am so grateful. God is good.
