Today is my birthday! And this is my present. I was asked to guest curate an episode of the @adultswim series “Off the Air,” — a “late night collection of animation, music video, experimental film and ephemera” — that will air on Dec 27th, 28th, + 30th at the wee hour of 3:30am EST, and be shared on Youtube + HBOMax soon after. The theme of the episode is “Journeys.”
The best part: I got to choose excerpts from some of my favorite short films of all time, by @rickdarge, @rekabooch, @nicolasmenard, @whereskati, @danaegosset, @saadmoosajee, @madeatartcamp, #encyclopediapictura, and #tomekpopakul. I also commissioned original work from some of my favorite artists — @studiocossa, @sam_lane_art, @night.lab, + @the.asfc. I was even able to put a few songs I love in there, so essentially it’s an 11-minute music + video mixtape. It's amazing to me how much work goes into making each episode the best it can possibly be, from licensing every little piece you can see and hear (thanks @drtchock) to sprucing up the tiniest of sound designs.
Thanks to one of my favorite people I have never met IRL and the founder of “Off the Air,” Dave Hughes @chzppa, for tapping me to do this. What a joy. And what a pure celebration of weird art he has built for 12 seasons and 11+ years!
It’s honestly one of the greatest joys of my life to champion + share art w/ the hope that doing so will enable those artists to make MORE of it. Check out the ep and let me know what you think :)

My first SXSW was in 2011 for the music fest. I Couchsurfed and didn’t have a badge or wristband but still had a blast. Serving on the Music Video Jury is a big step up and combines my love for music and film. Thanks for having me @sxsw!
