Mongolian Americans contribute to every facet of our society. CAPAC Chair @RepGraceMeng met with the New Neighbor Initiative to discuss how Congress can support this growing community by increasing economic opportunities, expanding language access, and fixing our immigration system.

Rep. Nancy Mace’s proposed constitutional amendment to bar naturalized citizens from serving in Congress, on the federal bench, and in Senate-confirmed positions is morally wrong. We must stand shoulder-to-shoulder against the bigotry and hate behind it.

Today marks 5 years since the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, authored by CAPAC Chair @RepGraceMeng and Senator @MazieHirono, was signed into law.

This legislation helped address the surge in anti-Asian violence during the pandemic, when 11,000 hate acts were reported between 2020-2021 alone.

The COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act was a critical step forward to improve hate crime reporting and provide resources to not just combat hate, but to prevent it.

We must continue fighting for a future free of anti-Asian hate, discrimination, and violence.

The East Bay has one of the largest populations of AANHPI communities in the U.S., and I am so honored to be surrounded by incredible AANHPI leaders, artists, visionaries, legislators, and innovators every day.

Today would have been the 71st birthday of Vincent Chin, who was brutally murdered 43 years ago simply for being Asian.

We honor his life by recognizing today as AAPI Day Against Bullying and Hate, standing against discrimination, and fighting for a future free from anti-Asian hate.
