Fast forward a few years, and I would run into the dashing duo at many a Dior show during Paris Fashion Week—which is, as it happens, exactly the sort of place where you begin to understand who someone really is. I got to know Apo better still at various Piaget events, he being the house’s global ambassador, and what struck me most was this: beneath the charm and the easy wit is someone who is, in the best possible way, completely serious about his work.
