Have you listened to Idjupa’s remix of our first single, ‘Rain’ yet? It’s one hell of a squelchy bop. We asked him to explain what’s going on here….

Idjupa: this is a live jam of the remix of Rain on the Elektron Octatrack mkii. I always make the bones of my tracks outside of a DAW before performing them live into logic when ready. In this case I sampled Alice’s vocals into the Octatrack, pitch shifted them down slightly, and chopped them up using the excellent slicing tool.

I used the vocal chops as an extra percussive instrument when creating the beat patterns, before adding various effects that can be applied during a live performance using the octatrack’s slider.

On a swelteringly hot day back in June we assembled a crack team of friends at @hopemillrecordingstudios - many had never met, let alone played with each other before. In under 3 hours we drank a lot of coffee, rehearsed and recorded a one-shot, one-take video of Hungry Ghost. No splicing, nowhere to hide. We’re soooo proud of what we created!
