Announcing ‘The Concentric Influences of Sol LeWitt: Foundations, Pivots and Place’, opening at RMIT Gallery on 5 June 2026.

Instigated and directed by Dr Irene Barberis (RMIT School of Art), this exhibition emerges from her long-term friendship and mentorship with the esteemed American conceptual artist Sol LeWitt.

In the 1960s, LeWitt revolutionised the definition of contemporary art by presenting the simple but radical idea that a work of art’s concept is more important than its form.

RMIT Gallery is delighted to centre this exhibition around a LeWitt wall drawing; the first to be publicly exhibited in Victoria since 1977.

'Concentric Influences’ will showcase the work of an established nucleus of international artists who worked closely with LeWitt during his career: Irene Barberis (AUS), John Hogan (USA), Fransje Killaars (NLD), Janet Passehl (USA), Wilma Tabacco (AUS); with a group of invited contemporary Australian artists: Jonas Balsaitis, Emma Coulter, Sarah Duyshart, Robert Hunter, Robin Kingston, Simon Klose, Sara Lindsay, Jordan Mitchell-Fletcher, Kerrie Poliness, Antonia Sellbach, Jacqueline Stojanović, David Thomas and Anne Scott Wilson.

To find out more about this exhibition, head to the link in our bio.

-

Curated by Irene Barberis with Helen Rayment.

The Sol LeWitt wall drawing is generously loaned by the LeWitt family and Estate.

This exhibition is presented by RMIT University at RMIT Gallery, in collaboration with Metasenta.

Graphic design by Zennie McLoughlin.

'Boiling Matters’ by Elisa Zorraquin at First Site Gallery.

'Boiling Matters’ employs Elisa Zorraquin's background in industrial design to consider the social capacity of jewellery to facilitate generous, caring and intimate exchanges between different peoples. The artist's participatory works engage both the mind and body through multiple handcrafted teacups threaded on a single chain, activated through a choregraphed sipping of tea. 'Boiling Matters' asks how shared rituals can become opportunities to slow down and partake in meditative communions.

'Slip' by Noah Bridger at First Site Gallery.

'Slip' is a practice-led exhibition which seeks to reveal the poetic qualities of recently discarded bluestones around RMIT University. Through the process of moulding and casting these stones into beeswax, Noah Bridger investigates the role of the artist in mediating a relationship between public spaces and people. In softening the rigidity of bluestone, Bridger reimagines how we might interact with Melbourne’s urban landscapes.

'Portable Stillness' by Ko Jou Chen at First Site Gallery.

'Portable Stillness' is an ongoing spatial installation where physical expressions of memory speak to the unstable and peripatetic nature of diasporic living. Motivated by the artist's own lived experience and personal collection of sentimental keepsakes, miniature handcrafted jewels and soldered objects are arranged on floating altar-like displays that speak not to preservation, but the transitory state of impermanence.

“As I approached this extraordinary landscape, I felt a profound, almost childlike sense of wonder. I was stepping into a world that was both ancient and unfamiliar.”

In 2011, artist David Burrows had the opportunity to visit the icy continent as the Australian Antarctic Arts Fellow. Burrows accompanied a team of biologists to a small rocky site behind Casey Station where abundant moss has thrived for centuries. Nourished by guano from a long‑abandoned penguin colony, this fragile ecosystem persists in a place we rarely imagine as green.

Burrows describes his motivations for photographing the moss gardens, saying “I wanted to confront expectations of Antarctic imagery while also offering the grandeur these ancient ecosystems deserve: landscapes without snow, ice, or penguins; green valleys and primordial vegetation instead of white emptiness.”

You might have noticed the bold sky that reflects in the moss-encircled ponds of Burrows’ photographs exhibited in ‘Creative Antarctica: Australian Artists in the Far South’. These skies have been digitally composed and added to the photographs by the artist, who wished to pay homage to Frank Hurley, another artist featured in ‘Creative Antarctica’.

Burrows says that “this decision was informed by my respect for Hurley’s pioneering Antarctic photographs, the historical symmetry of making this work nearly a century after his expeditions, and by conversations with fellow expeditioners about truth and manipulation in photography.”

Are these vast panoramic scenes, or windows into a microscopic world? Are we looking at remnants of an ancient past, or visions of a possible future?

“The performances are all connected to the thing I explore, which is the psychological and sociopolitical tension within the Chinese diasporic experience”

Huiyi Xiao’s First Site exhibition ‘Oil & Fire’ traverses the subliminal experience of being a Chinese-Australian immigrant. The exhibition features two video works, each combining performance art, poetry and spoken word.

Filming herself in costume across various significant locations; Melbourne Chinatown or against a chili-oil-stained backdrop; Xiao uses her body as a physical reservoir of personal memory. Informed by her background in sculpture, Xiao enacts a somatic expression of the psychological negotiation of two cultures.

This is your LAST week to visit ‘Oil & Fire’, closing this Friday 1 May.

“Antarctica has quite a long history of literature and we really wanted to include Australians’ contribution to that literature in the exhibition.”

In imagining the ‘Creative Antarctica: Australian Artists and Writers in the Far South’, Professor Elizabeth Leane, lead of the Creative Antarctica Research Project, wanted to create an exhibition that championed not only visual arts, but the written word.

A plethora of writers who have visited and written on Antarctica are celebrated in the exhibition through the ‘ice salon’ reading room, an Antarctic dictionary, the ice words poetry table and excerpts from books displayed around the galleries. These interactive spaces of learning help demonstrate how writers play a valuable role in showcasing the ice continent’s role in global ecosystems.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
