ROTATION SOUND SYSTEM
Built with Love A 3-Day Dance Party in a Cosmic Yurt, Est. 2013
Moondata - Let The Moonshine In (Remixes)
The little-known sole single from Moondata, 1984’s jazz-funk/boogie fusion gem ‘Let The Moonshine In’, is a very important record to the Rotation Sound System crew. It has become a familiar favourite at their annual Garden Party festival and formed the centrepiece of their first compilation, last years superb Everything You’re About To Hear Is True Volume 1.
After we tracked down the original artist we discovered he was still in possession of the ultra-rare original studio multitrack tapes so the Rotation crew set about creating their own versions and remixes as Chicken Lips, Mind Fair, T Kutt and Wrekin Havoc.
The vinyl is released next Friday 29th but if you’re near east London then there will be a limited supply of advance copies available at the launch party this Sunday at @fillybrook in Leytonstone, E11

It’s increasingly rare these days for an artist from the 80s to still have their master tapes but even rarer still for them to have the multitrack tapes.
Original studio tapes are now the holy grail when it comes to licensing old music so when you’re fortunate enough to dig them up the opportunity to remix and create new versions cannot be ignored.
Let The Moonshine In is one of these holy grails, a song that has laid untouched since its 1984 release. The original vinyl was a ghost to many collectors, a record that easily commanded hundreds of pounds if you could find a copy.
For us, the song first appeared on last years Everything You’re About To Hear Is True Volume 1 compiled by our good friends at the Rotation Garden Party. After an extensive search across Europe we finally found the original writer and producer Ms Jean-Marie Gogniat in rural Switzerland living somewhat oblivious to the demand for his 80s masterpiece yet still in possession of all his master tapes!
Fast forward to today and the Rotation family of artists, Chicken Lips, Mind Fair, T Kutt, Wrekin’ Havoc, have all remixed the original into this new Moondata remix package.
Ahead of the 29th May release date all the remixers descend on east London to launch the release on the late May bank holiday weekend at @fillybrook . It’s a free party with advance copies of the vinyl available to purchase on the day.

Rotation Garden Party 2026 is now sold out! See you all in the Cosmic Yurt! X ❤️✌️
Huw Costin, a fixture of the Nottingham music scene for nearly three decades,
will make his Rotation Garden Party debut with a special live acoustic set.
At heart Costin is a singer-songwriter inspired by the greats - Roy Harper,
John Martyn, Lucinda Williams & Joni Mitchell, but with a bent for sonic
experimentation and a wilful acceptance of a promiscuous muse. He first
gained recognition when between 1988 and 2005 he fronted a band eventually
known as Earth the Californian Love Dream. Costin then moved on to release
two solo albums – Regrets (2009), Something/Nothing (2013) and an EP –
Nutshell (2017), all the while recording with artists from a range of musical
territories, including Mark Lanegan (RIP), Michael Chapman (RIP), Andre
Lodemann, Stubb, Smith & Mudd and BJ Smith. Costin is also a member of
‘geography-folk’ band The Low Drift, plays guitar in JIM (Jim Baron of Crazy
P’s solo venture) and works closely with E.R. Thorpe (also of The Low Drift),
including on her new album “Human Love”
.
His focus now and in recent years has been his band - Torn Sail. Following
the critically acclaimed releases “This Short Sweet Life” (2017) and “Leisure
& Technology” (2020), most recent album “Steady Weather” (2025) presents a
more refined and layered sound, yet still retains the emotive depth and
exploratory spirit that has always defined Torn Sail’s work. Huw Costin will be playing a live acoustic set on Sunday 19th July at Rotation Garden Party 2026

Ticket Warning! Last chance to join us in the cosmic yurt ticket sales closing soon x
Frankie Valentine is one of the pioneering figures of the British dance music scene, a DJ and producer whose journey stretches from the early 1980s revolution to today. His love for sound is rooted in the 1960s, shaped by a lifetime of evolving musical influences and an openness to blending genres. He began his path in mid-70s London, carrying reggae sound system speaker boxes at just 13. That apprenticeship ignited his exploration of music, eventually establishing him as a forward-thinking DJ during the 80s and 90s, where he became renowned for house, electronic, and leftfield sets that pushed boundaries. Valentine’s career has been marked by integrity and experimentation, resisting trends while maintaining originality. His first recording, Aerotec, appeared on Scien Records in Japan in 1990, followed by releases on numerous global labels. Alongside original productions, he has crafted acclaimed remixes for artists such as Blaze, Leroy Burgess, Chari Chari, Revisionaries, Alexis P. Suter, and Nicky Lawrence – cementing his reputation as one of Britain’s best-kept musical secrets. Catch him on Sunday 19th July at Rotation Garden Party 2026

To many he is “The Black Music Oracle,” while the Idjut Boys call him “The Knowledge.” Bill Brewster, co-author of Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, has described him as the person he would turn to for answers on black music history. Respected both as a DJ and archivist, Sean has played a key role in preserving and celebrating underground dance music. With Joey Negro (Dave Lee), he co-compiled the acclaimed Disco Spectrum series for BBE, an education in rare and classic disco, and contributed to the seminal Disco (Not Disco) compilations, regarded as genre-defining collections that bridged punk and disco. Luke Una has been described as “the hero dance music never knew it needed,” lauded for his genre- defying DJ sets and his commitment to creating inclusive, soulful spaces. Beginning his journey as an original Sheffield house young blood in the mid-1980s, and later making his mark in Manchester, Luke Una has spent four decades shaping underground music culture. His genre-defying, alchemic fusion of sounds has taken him across the globe, earning him respect as both a DJ and cultural instigator. Originally one half of The Unabombers with Justin Crawford, Luke co-created The Electric Chair, a cult UK club night that became legendary through the 1990s. It was here that his deep, exploratory sets – alongside the likes of Theo Parrish, Moodymann and Harvey – established his reputation. The pair later formed The Elektrons, drawing critical acclaim. Luke’s contributions span club nights, fanzines, radio shows, labels and festivals. He co-founded Croatia’s Electric Elephant and is the driving force behind Manchester’s long-running Homoelectric and its 12,000-strong sister festival Homobloc, both vital fixtures in the UK’s LGBTQ+ cultural landscape. His Worldwide FM shows, born during the pandemic, became cult listening, while his partnership with Mr Bongo produced the acclaimed É Soul Cultura compilations, now a label and event series in its own right. Luke steps up to the Rotation booth on Sunday 19th July at Rotation Garden Party 2026
