It’s been a whirlwind 10 days of rehearsals with @lindastrawberry @nimblist @peraltapro @c_as_ca_de

I can’t quite show off screen content visuals yet, but a big show is about to hit the road.

Robin Hood foundation is the largest philanthropic organization in NYC. Funded by many of the wealthiest leaders in the investment world.

[no relation to the Robinhood trading platform]

Every year they host one of the biggest parties this city sees to raise money to fund thousands of programs that benefit underprivileged communities around the city.

This year they managed to raise $68.6 Million in a single night. Every dollar raised goes directly to benefiting the many worthy causes that Robin Hood supports. The generous board underwrites the entire event.

This event is always a colossal undertaking involving a dining area with 20 HD projectors building a full 360-screen surround. A combined raster of nearly 40k wide pixels. It's big. And that doesn't even include the cocktails and performance area.

This year the night included performances by Mumford & Sons, Nate Bargatze, and Post Malone. It's a massive production and I'm always proud to be a part of it.

I’m proud to release my first After Effects UI script.

Musicality features a few tools that I use every time I need to animate to a music track. Identifying and marking the tempo of a song makes it much easier to set your keyframes on a beat and identify the structure of the song.

This script gives a quick way to identify the BPM while previewing a song in After Effects. And then creates a kind of metronome layer with a visual reference of each beat and bar. This is a great way to test that your BPM is accurate.

It also creates markers in the timeline so you can quickly jump to the nearest beat to place your keyframes precisely. And gives the option to loop keyframes with an expression that loops on the mathematically accurate looping point of the beat, not rounding to a whole frame value like the built-in loop function will do.
Half off for the next few days.

I've only absolutely needed LUT on live shows a few times. But for those times, they accomplished things that needed to happen.

A lot of performers want to keep the IMAG feed clean of treatments or effects. I get that, but for the right performances, they can make a huge difference.

For the first few iterations of Bon Jovi's This House Is Not For Sale tour, the intro hype video ended with a sepia-toned photo of a dilapidated house from the album artwork projected onto a scrim. Sized and aligned so Jon would appear to be standing in the front door (semi-translucent projection surface). A simple trick, but it fit.

For the European tour, Jon would perform before a massive LED wall and we had to find a way to translate that moment to this new stage. We landed on placing IMAG video into alpha windows of the house's windows. But, clean color, or black & white IMAG video would look really out of place in a sepia world. The server probably had some sepia filter, but the tone wouldn't really match the existing graphics.

The solution was to create a custom LUT for the IMAG feed that matched the color effects I was applying in After Effects. Here's a breakdown of how that process works. I was able to use the exact same color effects to create the LUT, so the color tone matched exactly.

Check out my collection with over 400 graphic effects LUTs to keep in your toolkit. It might come in handy.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
