Balancing whimsically fresh and sophisticatedly feminine elements, Dior’s romantic approach to fabrics began to shape the identity of the luxury fashion house.

Take a stroll through the gardens in “Dior: Crafting Fashion,” on view now through Aug. 23.

Referencing the House of Dior’s heritage is “Dior Gardens,” a decadent display of floral designs presented as part of “Dior: Crafting Fashion.”

Since the House of Dior’s inception, ateliers have worked behind the scenes to manifest each creative director’s vision.

Starting with a streamlined sketch, ateliers spend hours preparing mock-up designs before the fabrication process begins.

Collaborating under the direction of the head seamstress and their assistant, ateliers are split into two categories: flou (dressmaking) and tailleur (tailoring).
