"Anima" is the last track on my debut album Spectres, out now on all platforms.

Jung defined the Anima as "an archetypal image of woman in the male psyche... a pervasive influence in a man’s life... the archetype of life itself."

I recorded this track on my phone a few days after moving from London to Krakow. My future wife and I were staying with her brother while we looked for a place to live and he had an upright piano in his flat, which I would improvise on every morning. You can hear my wife in the background (appropriately, given the archetype the track is named after). I thought about re-recording the piano part to get a cleaner sound, but in the end I came to really like the noisiness and intimacy of this phone recording.

Today, after a transformative seven-year journey through sound, imagery and psyche, my debut album is finally released!

The 6th single from Spectres is out now, named after the archetype of the serpent, which Jung described as "the earthly essence of man of which he is not conscious. The serpent has the weight of the earth in itself but also its changeability & germination from which everything that becomes emerges."
