A video I made of the journey of Subjam.

Subjam was founded in 1995
Came on and off the FM airwaves over a period of time and was taken over then 2 others brought in and ran it until 2013 ish

Subjam was very popular in the naughties as well as their club nights

In 2013 it stopped pirate transmission on 104.7fm

On the 1st of March 2025 SUBJAM returned to the DAB legally and is now coming to its first year as a legal underground station staying true to its roots.

This story will be told soon with the correct people involvedin pirate radio that actually did the pirate radio for this station.

Pirate radio was seen as a crime
The only crime was not being granted a licence for music that brought people happiness peace and fun

Thankfully DAB gave the old pirates a chance to show why they did and what they do for the love of music.

We’d like to welcome back @robphonetix

Phonetix is a veteran of the game, having kick started his career all the way back in the early 2000s, boasting impressive early support from DJ EZ & many more. In 2021 he was on a serious grind, featuring as an original producer, remixer & collaborator on 50 tracks. This includes a fabulous label run with the likes of Garage Shared, Nuvolve, Strictly Flava, Strictly House & Garage, Downplay & more, alongside a full length album drop of‘Jazz Step FM’ back in February... his catalogue is pretty exceptional, covering a range of different styles within the UKG spectrum with a serious level of consistency that very few others have been able to either match or beat.

Outside of his production work Phonetix has hosted the monthly Garage Essentials show; along with topical Garage & Bass podcast In The Garage (alongside Sub FM’s DJ BrainZ). He has also recorded music which has been used everywhere from programming on the Fox Network, to advertisements for Serato.

The album will be released in the spring of 2024.”
