NOT MADE FOR CITY LIFE

Five years ago, after the birth of a second child, it was mid lockdown and we were revisiting conversations about finally leaving London. I had been there for 16 years, and as two adults, born and raised in the countryside, it was finally starting to call us back.

So we sold up our home, moved back to my parent’s and bought a big old barn with the hope of turning it into our forever home.

I love watching our children grow up in the countryside, free to roam, explore and get muddy.

GOOD MORNING 💛

Good morning and a happy weekend folks.

We’ve been staying at my parent’s all week as there’s been a shoot at the barn. My parent’s live in Monmouth, which isn’t far from here so we rarely stay there. As much as I love the barn, it was so nice to go home for a few days, in the sunshine. The kids love it there as there are endless adventures for them to go on.

That being said, it’s lovely to come back to the barn and wake up to more sunshine 🤩

THE GOAL

As a child I was lucky enough to grow up in a place was that was truly magical. Hours spent exploring woods, riverbanks, running wild in fields. For hours we would disappear only to return for our dinner. I didn’t spend much time thinkingabout the home I wanted for me and my family, but now as a mother, value that feeling of calmness and freedom so much.

I treasure the days spent at the barn as a family, particularly when the sun shines as we stay outside from sunrise to sunset. There’s down time and of course the children squabble, but a lot of the time it feels magical.

Good morning,

I hope you’re all enjoying the long weekend and soaking up this glorious sunshine.

This week my mum treated me to my very first visit to the @the_rhs Chelsea Flower Show, and honestly… I left feeling completely inspired 🌿✨

I’ve always felt happiest outdoors. Growing up in the beautiful Welsh countryside, so much of my childhood was spent gardening with my mum, running wild through fields, climbing trees and getting lost in the woods. Those memories feel so connected to who I am now.

As I step into my 40th year and we continue settling into life at the barn, I’m finding myself drawn more and more to creating a garden that feels beautiful, peaceful and full of life. It’s becoming such a passion project for me.

So this weekend we’ll be spending our days planning, dreaming and mapping out the next steps… and I can’t wait to share more with you 🌱

Also… after Chelsea, I am now absolutely convinced I need a greenhouse 🤍

DAWN CHORUS

Good morning ☺️

As we head into a heatwave for the next week, I woke up at 5:05 to enjoy my favourite part of the day… I am such a morning lark - I love the cool, the calm and the optimism that comes with that early morning sunrise. But most of all, I love the birds and this morning it was a real dawn chorus. Wow.

I sat out for 15 minutes and enjoyed my cup of tea and it was pure heaven. And I even spotted Mr Robin and our resident woodpecker 🤩
