Pepe Gent, Grandpa

Thank you for the endless rides in the Ford Capri to the Beestenmarkt, so I could pet the bunnies.
For screaming together at ons Pierke van Gent on Sundays, and for the pretpark trips in the summer.

Although I never fully got the Gentse slang down,
you did teach me how to be een echte Gents Loetje.

For decades, you made the best bonbons in Gent, bij Van Hecke in de Koestraat.
No fries ever compared to yours, fijn gesneden, dubbel gebakken in ’t keteltje op ’t koerke in Gentbrugge.

You were the tallest man I knew,
and in your giant hands, I felt safe and unconditionally loved.

I’m going to miss your giant hugs.

Marbles !! my bestie, my soul dog, my sidekick, everyone’s friend.
It’s been a year without you, and the place you always claimed beside me still feels unbearably empty. Hiking hasn’t felt the same since you left.

I thought I was saving you from the shelter, but it was you who saved me. For more than a decade, you kept us safe, watched over my son as he grew up, and filled our lives with endless cuddles and comfort.

Temu and I are continuing the work at the shelter in your honor.
I still miss you so much.

Always in huuge talongs and in fashion, Small but feisty, no one could tell someone to fuck off in Gentse slang better than you !

You taught me how to take care of my hair and nails, how to dress well and always in fashion, youshowed me the handsome boys in the news papers !
You recognized me again after all those years and said
“mijn lotje je bent hier “you touched my ears and said my earrings were pretty .
Together we eat the best chocolate fondant cake in Gent and said goodbye.
I could not have wished for a more beautiful gift to say our last goodbyes 🤍

My best vintage button & trim secret !!
When I was a kid I would collect mugs and al sort of clutter, on Sundays I would sell them at a tiny flea market in Belgium, it is then I discovered this lady and her treasures . After all these years she is still here and It makes me so happy !

I was not able to find textile that got me excited so I decided to learn how to create my own.
The reason have been making these reels is because many people have questions about the process or don’t realize I’m the one creating all of this .

Waterslide decal vintage milk glass mugs.
I spend my childhood summers with my grandparents who were living by the forest. They taught me how to read the clouds, how to forage mushrooms,herbs and berries, how to find fossils and dig up clay in riverbeds to make sculptures .The days would end with grandpa’s mocha milkshake in grandma’s Arcopal lotus mugs .
In remembrance of my grandparents I recreated these mugs, I did give the colors a twist of my own.
I realize now how incredibly lucky I am to have spend my childhood in the forest with these incredible people.
