In the market to buy a house? Lucky you! While Melbourne's inner city is not exactly known for its affordability, there are still a few suburbs (yes, just a few) where you nab a relative bargain without needing to give up those urban perks.

According to data released by the property experts at Domain, these are the five cheapest spots where you can still snag a house for under 1.3 million – all are located within five kilometres of the CBD, and all are in the city's north (sorry, southsiders!). Jane Austen fans who aren’t too precious about the sacred text, the have-nots who dream of getting ahead and the very rich who can smugly laugh at themselves are guaranteed to love Bloomshed's 'Pride and Prejudice', on now at Malthouse Theatre.

Astonishingly funny and stacked with savvy stabs, when the show does go deliberately off the rails, it does so gloriously with an explicitly Australian plot twist. Read the full review and grab tickets via the link in bio 🔗 #bloomshed #malthousetheatre #prideandprejudice

Are you a big fan of Gayan Pieris' Many Little Bar and Dining in Red Hill? If that's a yes (obvs), we've got exciting news for you. The chef-restaurateur is set to open Agnii on Chapel Street in Windsor this August, an ambitious venture that will once again spotlight contemporary Sri Lankan cuisine 🔥

Opening in the former Hoo Haa bar location, Agnii revolves around the concept of “kussiya”, which means kitchen in Sinhala (aka the centre of the home, where cooking is not simply limited to the stove). At Agnii, the open kitchen will be the beating heart of the restaurant, where dried fish hang and a traditional clay firewood hearth will be used to cook and create beautiful smoky flavours.

The seasonal offering will feature everything from Sri Lankan snacks to hoppers and curries, with spices sourced direct from local Sri Lankan growers and producers. And on weekends, the space will shift towards a late-night supper menu that evokes the Sri Lankan energy of eating, drinking and dancing well into the early hours.

“I want my guests to feel as though they’ve been welcomed into my home, where they’re warm, cared for and part of a shared table,” said Pieris.

Keen? You bet we are. Bookings can be made from mid-July via the Agnii website. #agnii #melbourneeats #melbournerestaurants
