Tree Pittsburgh
Protecting and Growing the Urban Forest
Today, Tree Pittsburgh had the honor of hosting USDA @u.s.forestservice Chief Randy Moore and @padcnr Secretary Cindy Dunn at our campus on the Allegheny River. Chief Moore and Secretary Dunn took a tour of our Heritage Nursery and heard directly from partners invested in our tree canopy before speaking to a crowd about the importance of the urban forest and the work we’re doing here in Pittsburgh.
This day wasn’t just about us - it’s celebrating the collective $9 million invested in our region from the Bipartisan Infrastucture Law and Inflation Reduction Act. This is a huge investment in #FundingUrbanForestry and we couldn’t be prouder to partner with Pittsburgh Canopy Alliance members
@alleghenygoatscape @pittsburghparks @alleghenylandtrust @friendsoftheriverfront @accd_pa
@waterlandlife @landforcepgh @beurbankind and @city_pittsburgh in this exciting effort!

The Heritage Nursery continued to grow its impact in 2025 by expanding both fruit tree production and seed stewardship efforts. Increased fruit tree production supports programs like The Giving Grove, helping bring more fresh food to communities across the region. The delivery and continued construction of the seed lab support our developing seed bank.
Last year also saw the launch of the Seed Seekers program, a collaboration of the Heritage Nursery and the Education department. Seed Seekers engages dedicated nursery volunteers to support our growing seed collection program, and provides continued education to these volunteers and the general public. Check out the stats!

On Saturday, May 9th, community volunteers braved the rain to plant 30 trees and shrubs at the El Paso Street landslide remediation area in Morningside. Tree Pittsburgh has worked with @pgh.district7 and community organizations for several seasons to reforest the steep hillside next to the retaining wall built in 2023.
It was wet, it was muddy, but it was a great day with energized volunteers!

Happy National Love a Tree Day! This year, we asked staff to tell us why they love trees using just 5 words. Plus one haiku.
What 5 words would you use to describe why you love trees?

We're continuing our Flashback Friday series to look at tree planting and care in 2025!
Last year, we planted 1,900 trees throughout Allegheny County! This includes large balled & burlapped (b&b) trees and reforestation trees grown at our Heritage Nursery in Lawrenceville.
Planting trees is great, but we know that tree care and maintenance are important to ensure that our urban forest continues to grow. We pruned 1,013 trees and weeded & mulched 1,251 in 2025!
Read more about our 2025 at treepittsburgh.org/about (link in bio)!

Ready to bring more trees to your neighborhood this fall with our friends at @waterlandlife?
The TreeVitalize fall planting application deadline is June 1! If you have a vision for new street trees, community park restorations, or trail plantings, now is the time to get your application moving.
To be eligible, projects need:
✅ A Certified Tree Tender: You must include or partner with a certified Tree Tender on your team.
✅ Authorization: This includes signed request forms from property owners or a municipal authorization letter for public land.
Once you have these pieces in place, reach out to Brian Crooks (bcrooks@paconserve.org) as soon as possible to start the process!

Last week, volunteers from @lifeatsmithnephew joined us in Highland Park to plant 100 restoration trees!
The trees were planted along the Dog Paw Trail (also known to some as the Zoo Trail), which leads from the intersection of Butler Street & One Wild Place to the dog park. This planting is just one of many that will take place over several years to reforest an area where trees needed to be cut down for water main work.
Take a peek at the trees as you drive over the Highland Park bridge from 28 to Butler Street (but be careful behind the wheel)!
We're so grateful for partnerships like this one, with groups that return year after year. Want to get involved? Head to treepittsburgh.org/volunteer to learn how your group can get the hands dirty with Tree Pittsburgh.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
This free tool allows you to view Instagram Stories anonymously, ensuring your activity remains hidden from the story uploader.
Anonstories lets users view Instagram stories without alerting the creator.
Works seamlessly on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and modern browsers like Chrome and Safari.
Prioritizes secure, anonymous browsing without requiring login credentials.
Users can view public stories by simply entering a username—no account needed.
Downloads photos (JPEG) and videos (MP4) with ease.
The service is free to use.
Content from private accounts can only be accessed by followers.
Files are for personal or educational use only and must comply with copyright rules.
Enter a public username to view or download stories. The service generates direct links for saving content locally.
