WE STAND | ✨🧠 with Giacometti (Alberto) even today. As a 3-d art student I was taken by his obsession to find the real through external appearances, and as a result created my own gloriously imperfect bodies as cast sculptures. (His work fits somewhere between surrealism and existentialism…)

With more life lived, I understand much more acutely now the struggle he was grappling with in human emancipation and especially against the growing threat of fascism.

GRWM | 🫶🧠 About time for me, we and us to do some work in understanding more about one of the largest minorities on the planet - and one anyone can join at any time. Not a threat btw, just a human rights issue and movement that should be taught to EVERYONE, everywhere.

Reading list currently includes these stunners, authored by some epic female writers and journalists, each one disabled and proud. Follow them!

📖 Ramping Up Rights: An Unfinished History of British Disability Activism by @rachelcdailey
🤓 The War on Disabled People: Capitalism Welfare and the Making of a Human Catastrophe by @ellen.clifford2
🫶 The Anti-Ableist Manifesto: How to Build a Disability Inclusive World by @imtiffanyyu @shanidhanda
✨ Who Wants Normal Anyway? by @frances.ryan85

The goal? For me to better informed about one of my ‘pretty fucking obvious’ identities! And maybe you can pick up these titles too? I’d love a conversation.

Alt text: Close up of a disability pride flag, zooming out to reveal a green cover of the Ramping Up Rights book, and panning across the other book covers which feature a Handmaids Tale-esque cape and a bright yellow to orange fade. The final clip centres on the words The Anti-Ableist Manifesto.

AM 🎭 💜 | Someone has let me loose on their play as Creative Access Producer. I’m so delighted that they believe access matters too.

In general my posts will start to include more about disability arts and access as I lean into identity, community and lived experience that is mine and something to be proud of.

About the play: The Trip to Brighton is a comedy about a primary school in Canada Water planning a yr 6 field trip. The logic, values and ideals of the parents are tested before a consensus is reached… or is it?Written and directed by @maru.sestini and performed at @bubbletheatre.

What: Access starts at planning, with an understanding there are Disabled audiences, actors and arts workers (likely 1 in 4 of every group of people), the barriers they face, and the options/logistics on how to embed access across a production. Being transparent about what the venue and show offer is a starting point, removing barriers should follow quickly behind.

Why: Simply put access matters. It’s a human right. It takes consideration to embed. Lots of people want it and many in the arts, culture and heritage sectors are recognising it. Raising awareness is still necessary.

Why me: Lived experience; learnings from my MA; and volunteering, placements and schemes including @sparetyretheatre @shapearts @phoenixculturalcentre and @attitudeiseverythinghq. Thanks to them for bolstering my knowledge and confidence!

Acrions for you:
- London based? Book for the 8pm relaxed performance on 21 June (though know access is considered throughout). I’ll put a link in my stories daily until the show or until it sells out.
- Read up on the Social Model of Disability. Even I didn’t know about it until recently. It’s empowering.
- Feel free to ask me questions about creative access as I’d like to do more!

Alt text: ‘A Trip to Brighton’, ‘Sat 21 June at 6pm and 8pm’, ‘written and directed by Eugenia Sestini’, ‘will they ever make it?’. Design patterns are rhombuses in bright green, blue, yellow and oak wood effect with a door handle.

I LIKE | 🤓🥰 Stimulation - interesting approach by creative research consultancy Morris Hargreaves McIntyre that splits audiences or consumers into different groups based on a variety of factors to help arts and cultural organisations understand their audiences better!

I think my segment, aka naturally curious, is pretty spot on, especially as this year’s focus is on exploration of the wide variety of arts and cultural experience to inform my next career move!

Shout out to @mhminsight for the great graphic!!

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
