Connecting Communities Through Media Arts Since 1970

Welcome to the 42nd Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (April 29 - May 3, 2026) 🎥 💫
Over the past four decades of presenting #LAAPFF, artists and films have found a home in our space. In this time of overwhelming uncertainty, amid political and financial threats aimed at erasing our histories from collective memory, coming together feels all the more essential to protect. Whether at a gathering, a panel or a screening, it’s time again for us to catch up with old acquaintances or meet new friends and collaborators. Stories, too, can feel familiar, but in isolating times there’s comfort in knowing we feel through life similarly. Especially after this past year, familiar seems necessary. At least until the day we can retire the phrase: history repeats itself.
For now, we keep doing this work.
Join us at #LAAPFF2026 for an exciting lineup of films, panels, discussions, and events across Los Angeles!
🔗 View the program and schedule now at festival.vcmedia.org
🎟 Pre-sale ticketing is available for badgeholders. General ticketing will go on sale on April 6th @ 12PM (PST)

#VCArchives is thrilled to partner with the LA City Hall for #AANHPIHeritageMonth to present In Movement: A Legacy of AANHPI Athletes 🏀 This exhibit draws from the Visual Communications Archives to present photographs of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) athletes across the past half century of American sports. From Olympic arenas and neighborhood softball fields to incarceration camps and community halls, each image is a story of resilience and identity across a half century of AANHPI life.
The stories here are about more than sport. They are about belonging, about who gets to take up space, about communities that built their own leagues and tournaments and programs when the door was closed to them.
In Movement is located at the Henry P. Rio Bridge Gallery at City Hall and is open from May 1-31, 2026, and is presented as part of Visual Communications’ ongoing commitment to the preservation and presentation of AANHPI cultural history.

3. Muay Thai at the 1986 Asian Pacific Heritage Week

And just like that, 42 is in the books 💫
Over the course of 5 days, we had the pleasure of hosting you in our home. To provide you all with a place to inspire and champion each other. We kicked off on Wednesday at Hello Stranger in our familiar neighborhood then made a pitstop in WeHo before returning to Little Tokyo and Monterey Park.
On this year’s caravan, we saw a meeting of old friends and new faces, artists and enthusiasts, generations and cultures. Through our programming and events we constantly aim for connection. To see all of you share stories, conversations, laughs, tears, and applause really harmonized throughout the Festival.
Our success isn’t dictated by what happened this year, but by what happens years to come. And so if you did attend a screening, panel, event or workshop and had a positive experience in community with us, please help keep spreading the word about VC and please consider donating at 🔗 vcmedia.org/donate. We appreciate it as it is critical to us going so that we can continue to serve you. We hope that you will be a part of it again.
See you soon,
Visual Communications 💜

May 19, 2026 marks #LindaDay – 23 years since our Founding Executive Director, Linda Mabalot's passing in 2003 🤍
Linda helmed VC at the organization’s most challenging time when survival was top priority while maintaining its commitment to serving the Asian Pacific American community and media artists, leading the organization through many technological and organizational transitions and transformations.
The Visual Communications family misses Linda deeply. Many spoke of Linda’s wild laugh and unstoppable energy when remembering her. As Executive Director of Visual Communications, Linda Mabalot sought to ensure the viability and long-term success of Asian Pacific Americans in the media arts, while instilling and inspiring much joy and trust into the work.
The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles.
