Long-term conservation for an entire continent takes persistence, and wins rarely happen overnight.
Every year of progress we make is rooted in decades of field research, policy advocacy, and connections built across borders and communities. That patience pays off in ways worth sharing.
Click through to see what a single year of rewilding North America looked like for us in 2025 alone—and where the momentum is leading next.

We recently secured a third year of funding for our US 64 roadkill research. This black bear we caught on our dash camera last week is a reminder of why we keep showing up.
Every weekday morning since August 2024, our team has been on US 64 in eastern North Carolina, tallying and removing roadkill. From 2020 to 2024, 12 red wolves were killed on these highways, at least in part because the wolves are scavenging dead animals on the road. Since we started, only one has been killed.
This footage was captured near Buffalo City Road, a site identified by NCDOT as the prime target for future wildlife crossings that will be built with a Wildlife Crossing Pilot Program grant from the federal government. We proudly led a team effort in 2024 to raise $4 million in private funds to support NCDOT’s successful application.
Red wolves brought us here, but this road doesn’t discriminate. A crossing that’s safe for a red wolf is safe for black bears, bobcats, and a lot of creatures that don’t make the news.
Three years of data will help us make that case even stronger.

For 35 years, Wildlands Network has helped reconnect wild places, wildlife, and the people who refuse to stop fighting for both.
As we celebrate this anniversary, we're holding two things at once: gratitude for everything this movement has built and real urgency about everything still left to do.
The work of rewilding North America is far from finished.
Our 2025–2030 Strategic Plan outlines the next chapter, and we'll be sharing more in the weeks ahead.
The wild is always worth fighting for, and we do it best together.

Wildlife can’t attend policy hearings, so we show up for them.
From community board meetings to Capitol Hill, Wildlands Network has been in the room this year, pushing for policies that actually protect wildlife and the landscapes they move through.
On May 27th, we’re hosting a free webinar to break it all down: the wins, the work still ahead, and how we keep Congress focused on what matters.
12–1pm MT / 2–3pm ET / 11am–12pm PT
The wild needs people in its corner. Register at the link in bio.

Our field team in Sonora, Mexico just retrieved something special from a camera trap.
Wildlands Network placed cameras at a new site in eastern Sonora Mexico this past weekend, not far from the Northern Jaguar Reserve, core of the northernmost jaguar population.
At another ranch in the region, whose owners are exploring conservation certification, they pulled the first jaguar photos ever recorded there: an adult male and a slender juvenile, most likely a female.
We were lucky enough to get full-color daylight shots, revealing the beauty of these wild cats. These images are a reminder of what's at stake and why it’s so important to collaborate with landowners to protect wildlife.

We know a lot about how solar energy is generated. We know very little about what happens to wildlife when it's built in their habitats.
Wildlands Network researchers are working to change that. Wildlife-solar research is a new field, and peer-reviewed science is how we build it right. Our study of pronghorn near an active solar facility in New Mexico is one of the first of its kind, with findings now under peer review.

Wildlife have always needed room to roam. Climate change is making that more urgent, and roads are making it harder. At San Francisco Climate Week, we focused on solutions.
On Earth Day, Wildlands Network led a group through Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve on our Path of the Puma hike, joined by Jason Lombardi of @californiadfw. The group explored how local landscapes like the East Bay connect to statewide wildlife corridors and what policies like the Room to Roam Act mean for animals trying to navigate them.
The night before, we hosted Roam Free: A Wildlife Climate and Trivia Night. A room full of wildlife-obsessed competitors put their knowledge to the test.
We’re grateful for everyone who came out to join us – we hope to see you all next year!

A movement is growing in Washington around wildlife crossings, and we were there to see it.
Last week, in one congressional office alone, we learned we were the fifth group that week urging reauthorization of the Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program in the next federal transportation bill. The momentum behind this issue is bigger than any one organization or state.
The stakes are high as we work to keep wildlife and the traveling public safe on our roadways. Over 1 million vehicle collisions with large animals happen on U.S. roads every year, but properly sited and designed crossings reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions by up to 97%.
The case for renewal makes itself, but we are still waiting to see whether the program gets renewed in the next transportation bill. The first version of the bill could drop as early as next month.
Stand with us when it does. Link in bio to donate.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
