Anti-trafficking campaigns often conflate sex work with sex trafficking.

“It’s intentionally confusing and obtuse, and it may lead to the incorrect assumption that sex work is trafficking. That just further marginalizes sex workers.”

Thanks to @thevancitylookout for exploring this complex issue!

#NoMoreStolenSisters

Red Dress Day is inspired by The REDress Project created by Métis artist and activist Jamie Black.

The empty red dresses in her installations “evoke a presence through the marking of absence.”

The number of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S+) is staggering.

Red Dress Day invites you to bear witness, support healing, centre Indigenous knowledge, and demand the transformative change needed for justice and prevention.

We have a collective responsibility to act. Indigenous women are still disproportionately affected by gendered & racialized violence – and the risks are even higher for sex workers.

Since 2004, WISH has been supporting Indigenous sex workers with culturally relevant programming. You can learn more about WISH’s Indigenous Health & Safety program (or make a donation to WISH in honour of Red Dress Day) on our website.

+ if you are a WISH participant, stop by this evening to take part in a special Red Dress Day activity. Please join us when the Drop-In opens at 6pm.

Call to Action: Email the City of Vancouver to reinstate the Sex Work Social Planner

Template letter: tinyurl.com/wtc-letter or click the link in our bio.

WISH Drop-In Centre Society, PACE Society, SWAN Vancouver, Living in Community Society, and RainCity Housing released a joint statement after learning the City of Vancouver eliminated one of the two Sex Work Social Planner positions. This position helps prevent violence, reduce vulnerability, and strengthen communication between sex workers, police, community organizations, and the City.

To support our calls to immediately reinstate the position, @WomenTransformingCities created an email template that supporters can copy, personalize, and send to the Mayor and Council.

The Sex Work Social Planner’s work is especially critical as organizations report increasing violence against sex workers, and Vancouver prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which comes with additional risks of sex workers being displaced from street-based work, and/or disconnected from services due to a heightened police presence and surveillance across the city.

Our community care moment 💛

We honour that burlesque + sassy dance comes from sw’ers + this is one way we give back.

With the impending World Cup coming to the city, these resources are more crucial than ever for our DTES community.

We’re collecting at both shows on May 22 + 23:
• Toothbrushes
• New underwear
• Socks

If we each bring just one item, that’s 450+ essentials for the community.

Miss P used to work at WISH drop-in + can say firsthand that these items go a long way, especially in warmer months.

If you have any questions, pop us a DM! // #pinupposse #betheburlesqueyouwanttoseeintheworld

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.

Advantages of Anonstories
